We’re just going to call it now. 2009 is officially the year of celebrity fashion collaborations. And Charlize Theron just made it into the design world at the last minute by teaming up with TOMS Shoes. But while many celebrities simply think they have the ability to cull fashion brilliance from their dramatic interiors, Charlize is using her style sense for a good cause, and given TOMS’ charitable aspect, the partnership really is quite perfect.

Actress Charlize Theron has been selected to star in “Mad Max: Fury Road,” the fourth installment in the “Mad Max” movie series. Theron, who has a thing for playing out-there women (see: “Monster”), won’t be appearing opposite “Mad Max” star Mel Gibson though; he’ll be sitting out this trip into the apocalyptic future. Instead, Max will be played by actor Tom Hardy, who starred in Guy Ritchie‘s “RocknRolla.” Shooting will start next summer in Australia. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Christ on a cracker, we don’t think we’ve seen more perfect hair ever. Some paparazzi yelled, “Hey Charlize, over here!” at the recent Hollywood Film Festival Awards, she snapped her head back, and boom, somebody could put this pic on a magazine cover. To get this look, you’ll need some seriously good genes, a killer set of baby blond highlights, and a conditioning treatment to make it look extra glossy and silky. Ask the colorist to use a balayage technique (that’s when they paint the highlights in) to get it looking extra natural and sun-kissed. If you’re just interested in the style, blow-dry, create an extra-deep side part, sweep to the side, and coat ends with just a dab of L’Oreal Studio Line Curl Smoothing Cream. The November issue of Vanity Fair features one of my favorite actresses, Penelope Cruz, on the cover, channeling Elizabeth Taylor in “Cleopatra.” And in the cover story, Penelope’s interviewer pauses to ask her a very important—no, make that universe-altering—question: Who’s the better kisser, Scarlett Johansson, whom she smooched in “Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” or Charlize Theron, whom she kissed in the 2004 flick, “Head in the Clouds.” Penelope played coy and answered, “No matter how I answer that I will be in trouble. But interestingly, back in 2006, when Penelope was asked to divulge her best onscreen kiss ever, she said, “Can I say Charlize Theron? Yes, Charlize, Charlize, Charlize.” Could ScarJo have topped that? It’s possible—she did score Ryan Reynolds.

Presumably to promote her upcoming movie, “The Road,” in which she plays a suicidal mother, Theron graces the cover of the September 2009 issue of Vogue and gasps: “I always reveal too much.” I’m sure that line is intended to pull in the guy readers along with the ladies, no? Meanwhile, Fashion Copious has the down and dirty deets on how the Fashion Magazine of Our Times is faring during the financial downturn, judging by its infamous September issue, and it ain’t pretty. Total pages and ad pages are down by around 300 pages each since 2007. Well, at least it won’t be so hard to lug the darn thing home on the subway. [Charlize Theron]
