What’s cuter? A puppy in a real Chanel bag? Or a puppy in a DIY Chanel dog carrier? We’re going to have to go with the latter. [Cute Overload] Keep reading »
We seriously never thought we’d use the words “cute” and “Canadian Tuxedo” in the same sentence, but Chanel managed to do just that. Behold: model Brad Koenig and his son strutting down the runway. Adorable! [Style] Keep reading »
“Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky,” the true story of forbidden romance between two of the most creative minds of the 20th century, is out on Blu-ray and DVD today. Roger Ebert said this film, which was directed by renowned French filmmaker Jan Kounen, is an excellent biopic. It stars Anna Mouglalis, a former Chanel model, and Mads Mikkelsen. The film features exquisite costumes, including archive pieces from the House of Chanel and pieces designed by Karl Lagerfeld, as well as a score dominated by many of Stravinksy’s works.
Vroom, vroom: Keira Knightley films a commercial for Chanel over the weekend in Paris. Anyone care to guess the story line for this one? “Easy Rider” re-make? Drag race between Karl and Keira? (If only.) [Fashionologie] Keep reading »
Iconic photographer Cindy Sherman made a name for herself by doing self-portraits in fabulous disguises. In the September issue of Pop magazine, Sherman had the opportunity to use the Chanel archives as her costume supply, from which she sampled classic vintage looks made by Coco herself, as well as Karl Lagerfeld‘s contemporary designs. While Sherman has been known to channel stereotyped glamour, she also goes for the grotesque, yet her photos for Pop are a hilarious balance of the two. While she dresses up in high-fashion, her poses communicate disgust. Keep reading »
Come September 10, we won’t be painting the town red during Fashion’s Night Out. Rather, we’ll be painting it khaki thanks to Chanel‘s special trio of nail polishes created in honor of the event. Looks like Chanel is positioning itself as the taste maker for nail polish trends (thank you for the gray and jade suggestions, we’re all about them) because these earthy hues are both innovative and excellent for fall. And of course, the perfect FNO souvenir! [Teen Vogue] Keep reading »
Thanks to a few Photoshopping scandals and the still-hot debate about larger sizes in fashion, it’s nearly impossible to talk about Crystal Renn without talking body image. The plus-size/curvy/whatever-you-want-to-call-her model just landed this Chanel campaign, which shows only her face. For Renn, this work with the brand points to a positive shift in fashion aesthetics. She tells Fashionista, “I think the fashion industry is changing and is more open to a new ideal … It’s about a personality and a moment captured..it’s not about body size it’s about talent and effort…I hope the industry sees this [campaign] as an example of that.” Keep reading »
“The most expensive thing I bought recently was a $5,000 Chanel surfboard. I’m using it as décor in my bedroom until I get really good at surfing. It’s too pretty to risk chipping it.”
— Audrina Patridge, on what you too can have if you eat a Carl’s Jr. hamburger in a gold bikini and spend years of your life alongside Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag. [Mirror UK]
