“We don’t drink when we’re apart. Ever. Even if we’re apart for weeks. We don’t want to go [to nightclubs or] anywhere that you’re asking for trouble. I don’t want to be in Europe texting her, like ‘Where are you?’ This way we don’t have to worry about any of that stuff.”
–Chad Kroeger tells People that one of his and Avril Lavigne’s rules for a happy, Chavril-tastic marriage is a pledge to only drink together. I’m all about doing whatever works for you, but I also feel like they might want to work on their trust issues instead of making rules. Does anyone want to discuss the intricacies of Chavril’s marriage with me? No? OK. Some of the couple’s other tips for a happy relationship: don’t go more than two weeks without seeing each other, and make plenty of time for snuggling. You’re welcome! [People]
You guys, the long-awaited Chavril LaKroeger duet has finally dropped! I’ve already listened to it four times and I LOVE IT. “Let Me Go” was recorded for Avril’s upcoming album, which Chad worked on, sparking their fabled romance. Listening to this song is like watching the third season of “Newlyweds” and seeing Nick and Jessica’s relationship unravel in real time, but the opposite of that. With every note of this song, you can hear Chavril falling deeper and deeper in love. I’m crying right now. I need to go compose myself. Just push play. [YouTube]
Over the weekend, Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger tied the knot with fellow Canadian Avril Lavigne in a castle in the south of France. Pretty fancy, Chavril. The pair got married in a mega-gothy ceremony, with Lavigne in a custom Monique Lhuillier gown. A black gown. Black gowns are nothing new, of course; earlier this year, Shenae Grimes wore a black Vera Wang gown to marry her boyfriend, Josh Beech. And back in 1997, Sarah Jessica Parker wore black at her wedding to Matthew Broderick. All in all, colorful wedding dresses seem to be blowing up, but we’re a bit on the fence about all that black. It just seems a bit … dour? What do you think?

“I wanted to make sure it’s a crazy vacation and an experience of a lifetime for our guests … I wanted it to be over the top. I’m obsessed with castles and I love French décor and goth. I found this castle in France and we visited it and it was perfect.”
–New bride Avril Lavigne opens up about her weekend wedding to Chad Kroeger in an upcoming Hello! Canada cover story. More details that I know none of you care about but I am obsessing over: the ceremony was held at the Chateau de la Napoule medieval castle near Cannes, Lavigne wore a black tulle Monique Lhuillier gown and carried a matching black bouquet, and the 110 guests danced to a playlist that included Lynyrd Skynyrd and Bruno Mars. “We started dating and the next day he was like, ‘You know I’m gonna marry you.’ And I said, ‘I know.’ It was one of those things that we just knew.”
–Avril Lavigne spills some specifics about her whirlwind romance with fiance Chad Kroeger in a joint interview that also included Chad summarizing the pair’s courtship as follows: “it just kind of blossomed into this kind of thing.” You guys, I have to admit that my Chavril obsession has gotten to the point where I literally started sweating when I saw they had done an interview together. I was literally leaking Chavril excitement out of my pores. I’m disgusting. Sorry. CHAVRIL 4EVER. [Us Weekly]
“This one song that I’ve got, I don’t even know what the title would be, it sounds like something John Lennon would be doing in his very psychedelic stage. It starts with these congo or bongo drums carrying this strange rhythmic pattern. And then a tambourine doing off-time hits with it… It’s pretty bizarre. But it’s pretty catchy. Who knows, maybe we’ll stick it on the next Nickelback album.”
–Chad Kroeger reveals to Men’s Health that Nickelback is sitting on a crazy, psychadelic, paradigm-shifting, super experimental–but still catchy!–song in that maybe, just maybe, will make an appearance on the band’s next album. As an avid Nickelback fan, I will be waiting with bated breath. Another major revelation from Chad’s interview? He and fiance Avril Lavigne call each other “Chavril” at home(!), and Avril has taken total control of their wedding plans: “Let’s just say she’s … steering the ship towards what is going to be the most unique wedding that the planet has probably ever seen.” Be still, my Chavril-loving heart! Congratulations Deryck Wibley! You win for most utterly passive aggressive ex-husband ever. The Sum 41 singer evidently teamed up with a friend to go as his ex-wife Avril Lavigne and her new fiance, Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger. My guess? I bet Deryck and Avril had an exes with benefits thing going on, and then Chad stepped in and ruined the arrangement. Ah, Canadian drama.
Lately I’ve been looking at my closet and feeling an overwhelming sense of “I have nothing to wear!” Luckily though, I just found the magical garment that will instantly fill the gaping void in my wardrobe: a Chavril engagement T-shirt, which celebrates the upcoming Canadian royal wedding of ChAvril LaKroeger, aka Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger. As the model illustrates, it goes perfectly with a heavy smear of black eyeliner and a punk rock attitude. Yep, this is definitely my new fall uniform. [$25, The Chavril Boutique]
