Vanessa Hudgens has broken the shackles of teenybopper, sweetheart typecasting to join the predominantly female cast of “Sucker Punch.” The action movie is set in the ’50s and has been described as “‘Alice in Wonderland’ with machine guns.” For the role, Hudgens has spent months training with Navy SEALS. “I was bawling my eyes out because they push you so hard,” she said. “But it’s amazing what you find from it. When you go so far you find a certain zen within that and you know you can do anything. It’s very empowering.” [People]

Her statements, in the April issue, might seem sexist to some, but to me she’s saying that she always dated someone who could bring as much to the relationship as she was contributing (or who was worthy of her). Hopefully, everyone’s mother cautioned her or him against dating someone that wasn’t worthy of their time.

The writer gets not-enough minutes with The Big Star, out of which s/he must generate enough words to support however many advertising pages the magazine has sold that month. What a chore. And this is how we get totally ridiculous celebrity profiles in which people say things that make no sense. In the new Details cover story on Sam Worthington by Jonathan Miles, Miles feels compelled to point out that Worthington is like a plumber. Which is supposed to make some kind of a point. Although, what that point is or how it illuminates Worthington remains unclear. In any case, you’re probably better off just looking at the pictures. Dina Lohan wants you to stop using so much water when you brush your teeth. No, guys, she’s like really, really serious. And so today, at the Go Green Expo in New York, Dina has unleashed a new product on the world. It’s called The Lohan Green Tooth Brush—which is weird, because we thought “toothbrush” was one word —and it’s a water-free contraption that promises to save each user two gallons of water a day. Because, uh, most of us brush our teeth for an hour with the water running? Overall, Dina hopes that if everyone in the country gets one, 600 million gallons of water could be saved every 24 hours. This honestly doesn’t sound like the worst idea ever—but really, who wants to think of Dina, Lindsay, Ali, and Michael first thing upon waking up and before going to bed? Gwyneth Paltrow isn’t shy about giving advice on homemade beauty recipes, but she really enjoys doling out food advice. Gwyneth has this weird way of bragging about her detoxes, love of raw foods, and macrobiotic diet that is meant to make the rest of us feel shameful about scarfing down a Five Guys cheeseburger. So I was devilishly happy to learn that Gwyneth is indeed human and occasionally indulges her cravings. While in Tennessee filming “Love Don’t Let Me Down,” Gwynnie partook in fine Southern cuisine, including fried chicken, chicken sliders, sweet potato fries, biscuits, and oysters. And of course, she posted all of this on her GOOP website, where she gushes about several restaurants. “At the Loveless Cafe, their food is delicious, a traditional southern heart attack,” she writes.
