Speaking of hot, self-directed guys, today we get some exciting news from the set of “Mad Men.” After months of tenuous negotiation, the new season is now in production. And apparently, Jon Hamm—aka Don Draper—will be directing the season premiere. “The wheels have officially been set in motion to make that happen,” he said. “It’s a very exciting challenge that I’m looking forward to with a mixture of utter fear and excitement.” You can do it, Jon! How do we know? Because John Slattery—aka Roger Sterling—did it last season. [Huffington Post] Keep reading »

Drew Barrymore To Teach Us “How To Be Single”

Drew Barrymore is gearing up to direct her second flick, and instead of delving into the wild world of roller derby, this time around Drew will be covering more familiar territory—the state of the single person. The movie, “How To Be Single,” is based on a novel by Luz Tucillo and will be adapted by Marc Silverstein and Abby Kohn, the scribes behind the Drew-produced “He’s Just Not That Into You.” The movie will tell the story of a group of single New Yorkers and will follow them over the course of 10 years. “Love is never gonna be a tired subject,” Drew says. “Being single, this one definitely speaks to me and I’ve explored it a lot in the last year and a half. I’m at that age where I’m sort of straddling a great line right now and I can see both sides very well… It’s hopefully, in a lot of ways, not a romantic comedy. People have this weird stigma [with] that word — it’s a turnoff to guys or whatever. But I think we’ve honed in on a style that will be more universal, a little bit ageless and not gender specific.” And with that, she has piqued my interest. [EW] Keep reading »

Meg Ryan: Director?

Meg Ryan hasn’t gotten many roles since she—well, let’s be honest—messed up her face. Which is such a shame, because I watched “When Harry Met Sally” the other day on cable, and was reminded of how great she can be. So I’m glad to hear that she is settling into a new role behind the camera. Yep, homegirl is set to direct her first movie, “Into the Beautiful,” a flick about a group of friends reuniting, a la “The Big Chill.” Keep reading »
