“What I really want right now is to get a debt-ceiling deal for my birthday … I feel real good about 5-0. I’ve got a little greyer since I took this job, but otherwise, I feel pretty good. Michelle still thinks I’m cute. And I guess that’s, that’s all that matters, isn’t?”
—Barack Obama talks to NPR about his 50th birthday, which is coming up on Thursday. We’re with Michelle on this one—we think the grey just makes you look more distinguished, Barack. And we guess it’s up to Congress whether he’ll get the birthday present of his choice. [Telegraph UK] Keep reading »
On Sunday morning, Kim Kardashian tweeted a photo of her and Heidi Klum dressed up as flappers for Eva Longoria‘s 1920s themed 36th birthday party the night before. Is that moonshine or wine in your snifter, Heidi? And where, oh where, is a shot of the birthday girl? I want to see her and rumored boyfriend Eduardo Cruz. Here’s hoping he was wearing suspenders and a woven straw hat. Keep reading »

Our little Taylor Swift is growing up and will be turning 21 on Monday. So what is she planning for her birthday? “I definitely want a winter-themed birthday — Christmas-themed,” she said. “And I’d really like to have it in my condo. I think that would be wonderful. … It’ll be cool that I’ll be able to go to a lot of concerts that my friends always go to and I sit at home because it’s 21 and over. Other than that, I don’t think I’m going to all of a sudden start being in love with the idea of going to a club.”
True, Taylor doesn’t look headed for party girl-dom. But still, there is so much we’ve learned since turning 21 that we wish someone had told us back then. After the jump, some tips for Taylor so that she can be a productive, legally-able-to-drink, member of society. Keep reading »
“[My family and I] need time to all be together … I’m not going to go crazy; [just] have a fun party and then maybe take a vacation with my family … because that would be really cool. So that would be rad if we could all go to the beach or something.”
—Miley Cyrus on how she wants to spend her upcoming 18th birthday. Sadz. Just goes to show how divorce affects kids … even rich and famous ones. I think it’s safe to assume that she will not be inviting Bret Michaels. [Us Weekly] Keep reading »
Simon Le Bon, the lead singer of Duran Duran, produced some of my favorite ’80s music of all time — “Rio,” “Hungry Like the Wolf,” “Girls on Film,” “Reflex,” “New Moon on Monday,” to name just a few. And he was so hot back in the day. Major crush. Happy birthday, dude! Keep reading »
On her actual birthday, July 2nd, Lindsay Lohan got punched by a waitress. And the day before her belated birthday party, Lilo got slapped again, this time with a 90-day jail sentence for violating her parole. Still, some people were shocked that Lindsay was a no-show for her 24th birthday party at Las Palmas Mexican restaurant last night, where Brody Jenner, Avril Lavigne, Brandon Davis and others partied down without her. At midnight, one of her good friends tweeted, “Lindsay is not having her birthday @laspalmas!!! She is at home with friends and family!!! We wish her well and love her!!!” Keep reading »

Paris Hilton threw a surprise birthday party for her boyfriend Doug Reinhardt this weekend, and you’ll never guess what she did! I don’t even know where she came up with this. Are you ready? She jumped out of a cake! In a hot pink costume and black diamond mask no less! OMG, right?
No, seriously though, will famous people knock it off with the half-naked cake surprise? Every celebrity hussy has given it a go, from Scary Spice to Jessica Simpson to Jenna Jameson. Even Hugh Hefner wasn’t that psyched when Pamela Anderson came out of his 82nd b-day cake naked.
