I think we can all agree that Lana del Rey is not set to become the next star on the Adele spectrum. The singer-songwriter’s album, performances, and appearance have been panned by critics and consumers alike since she first gained notoriety via — what else? — the Internet. For me, she’s an incredibly guilty pleasure on par with Katy Perry: I will never, ever expose my love to any of my Young Hip Brooklyn (credit: Ami) friends, but they will have 300+ plays on my iTunes. Del Rey doesn’t have much more to offer than your average pseudo-edgy (ahem, potentially fabricated history of meth addiction?) bubblegum pop star, but I would be lying through my teeth if I said that I didn’t try to emulate her hair and makeup on an everyday basis. Her fashion choices aren’t even that impressive to me (though her Met Ball look could have been stellar had she shed the cape) but whoever does her face nails it every time. Her usual simple-yet-glamorous look is the one I aspire to recreate: well-defined, flicked-out eyes with long lashes, thick groomed brows, neutral lips, and long, side-parted hair styled in retro waves recall Brigitte Bardot. Am I a straight up fraud for loving this controversial star’s beauty style? [Canada.com]

I don’t usually have many feelings about Jada Pinkett-Smith’s style or, for that matter, Jada Pinkett-Smith as a whole. I try not to even think about Will Smith anymore because he just makes me sad. He is no longer the Fresh Prince I knew and loved — I thank Scientology. Anyway, “Men In Black 3″ (does anybody want to make an original film anymore or is it all sequels to sequels from here on out?) premiered in New York last night and Jada, who has made some fairly bizarre sartorial choices in the past, went for what I think is a simply gorgeous dress by Bill Blass. It’s a bit of a strain to see, but the entire skirt is sheer, with the opaque bodice and torso forming a sort of bodysuit shape not unlike Beyoncé’s Met Ball gown. I love everything about Jada’s look and I absolutely think she can pull it off, but I want to know what you guys think: is the sneakily revealing skirt totally appropriate or does it leave too little to the imagination?

Are you excited for the new film adaptation of “On The Road”? I feel pretty impartial about it, but it’s probably because I’m just not that into Kerouac. I would assume that those who are probably have very strong feelings about it one way or another. I am looking forward to seeing how the movie turns out given the ambitious material. I’m also curious to see Kristen Stewart and Kirsten Dunst in their roles — from the looks of the Cannes photocall for the film, the two have gotten pretty chummy. I usually love Kirsten’s style, but I just hated the drab Rodarte dress she wore to the Met Ball. Keep reading »

Cheryl Cole, the most internationally recognized member of the British girl group Girls Aloud, is very beautiful and very stylish (if, at times, a bit overdone). This Stéphane Rolland Haute Couture gown she wore to Sunday’s premiere of “Amour” is, well, fundamentally perfect — it’s lovely and show-stopping without being too bombastic for her role at the occasion, like Eva Longoria’s endless Marchesa, which I found reprehensible (why, Eva?).

However, exponentially more reprehensible than Eva’s inappropriate train are Cheryl’s comments from just a few days ago regarding the future of the deservedly controversial Chris Brown. Keep reading »

Super-stylish and superhumanly attractive Rosie Huntington-Whiteley always looks good, whether she’s glitzed out on the red carpet or all mucked up in “Transformers.” Needless to say, her “going out to do errands” look is (approximately infinitely) more impressive than my “this is the best I have ever looked,” but the best thing about Rosie’s chic off-duty outfits is that they’re so imitable, you may even have some of the pieces in your wardrobe already (that hunter suede Céline Phantom and crazy-toned arms, not so much). This fresh ensemble in particular is perfect for weird transitional weather, and can easily be dressed up for night with some killer black pumps when time is of the essence. Check out my take on Rosie’s cool springy look after the jump! [photo via Just Jared] Keep reading »

Seriously, has Kate Moss ever left the house looking anything other than absolutely, effortlessly perfect? Thirty-eight years of endless debauchery have hardly taken a toll on her looks and style, and she’s still rocking the same trademark eccentricities that she single-handedly made so popular twenty years ago: unfussy middle-parted hair with visible roots, subtly smoky eyes with otherwise natural makeup, a knowing smirk, and the best cheekbones ever. (And who could forget the sexy rock star husband arm candy?) Am I obsessed? One could say that, but I honestly think Kate gets better and better with age.

Cécile Cassel is an unfamiliar name in the States, but as the daughter of the late Jean-Pierre Cassel, the young actress’s patrician French pedigree is kind of a big deal. Her brother has a larger American presence — you may recall his role as the ballet teacher Thomas Leroy in “Black Swan” or perhaps his leading roll in “La Haine,” the 1995 French film still hailed as one of the best movies ever made. A quick Google search will inform you that Cécile had a brief speaking role on the final season of one very famous television show that saw her as Chloé, the angsty, Gallically existential daughter of — wait for it — Aleksandr Petrovsky. Evidently, she also has a way with high fashion, seeing as she sat front row at Monday’s presentation of the Chanel 2012/13 cruise collection in beautiful Versailles. Cécile was a standout, even among such international style icons as Tilda Swinton, Vanessa Paradis, and Inès de la Fressange. Keep reading »

Kristen Stewart and Co. are doing the press rounds for “Snow White and the Huntsman,” so naturally there’s loads of fashion fodder to go around. The cast turned out for a photo call in Berlin today, and while Kristen’s dress was certainly less ostentatious than her risky look for the world premiere, the long Derek Lam sheath she chose was a bit of a deviation from the fashion norm. For me, the pattern errs on the side of Hot Topic, but it could just be the thick chained belt that’s eclipsing my vision. I have to say I love the fit of this dress, and while I’m not usually partial to a checkerboard pattern, I think the edgy look could have worked fabulously on punky Kristen had she shed the wide belt. I know you guys preferred Charlize’s look yesterday, but how is this red number working for you? [Just Jared]

Mirror, Mirror: Which “Snow White” Star Killed It At The World Premiere?

“Snow White and the Huntsman” is poised to be one of the biggest blockbusters of the year, and it owes the pre-release fanfare not only to its subject (it is Snow White, after all) but also to its key cast of bonafide eye candy: Kristen Stewart (hot), Chris Hemsworth (hotter), and Charlize Theron (hottest).

Carey Mulligan Puts The Prada Dress She Wore To The Met Ball On eBay For Charity

As if we needed any additional reasons to adore the extremely adorable Carey Mulligan, here’s one more: the starlet placed her Met Gala dress on eBay yesterday, with all the proceeds from the auction going to Oxfam America. The custom Prada dress (constructed of silver and gold metal paillettes, if you recall) began at the modest price of $500 and is currently at $1,050, but considering the listing doesn’t close until the 19th, there’s a good chance the bids are going to skyrocket. Of course, I don’t know how many people could actually fit into Carey’s teeny-tiny gown, but how amazing would it be to hang that shit up in your house? It’s almost as good as going to the Met Ball yourself. Almost. Pssst — Carey, I know you’re all about keeping your private life private and I respect that, but girl, we want to see your damn wedding dress! [Racked]
