Willow Smith’s Wicked New Neon Hair

True story: I went to grad school in Brighton, England, the place where raves never died. Everywhere you go in Brighton, there are middle-aged people wearing neon yarn hair, a holdover from their days in the rave caves of the ’90s. Often, these rave casualties would tote around their children, and many times I felt pangs of second-hand embarrassment for the tweens whose moms and dads sported fake neon dreadlocks down to their knees. It gave me the douchechills. Willow Smith’s new neon braids remind me of those Brighton folks, but unlike them, her new hairdo is age- and life-appropriate. Whip it, girl. [Buzzfeed] Keep reading »

Jennifer Aniston Hated The “Rachel” Haircut

“Have there been disasters? I think that’s a very relative term with hair. Let’s say there have been moments I’d rather not relive, like that whole Rachel thing. I love Chris [McMillan, her hairstylist], and he’s the bane of my existence at the same time because he started that damn Rachel, which was not my best look. How do I say this? I think it was the ugliest haircut I’ve ever seen. What I really want to know is, how did that thing have legs? Let’s just say I’m not a fan of short, layered cuts on my personally, so I don’t love revisiting that particular era.”

– Jennifer Aniston admits to Allure that, oh, the most famous haircut of all time, that the rest of the universe got because she had it, is actually totally fugly. Too little, too late, Jen! You should have spoke up then! [Huffington Post] Keep reading »

Get Out Of That Boring Summer Ponytail Rut

Every Monday night while watching “Gossip Girl,” I gush over Blake Lively‘s endless blond locks, which are certainly unattainable without the assistance of a few extensions. However, one achievable hairdo from the flaxen-haired actress is her braided ponytail from the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala. With summer’s impending humidity, we’ve been on the hunt for any cute way to lift hair off the shoulders and neck to keep cool despite the 90+ degrees, because the go-to ponytail will quickly become pretty boring. In an effort to diversify your hairstyle, attempt the braided pony like Blake. Celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson provides a great how-to video so early morning hair struggles will become a thing of the past. [Stylelist] Keep reading »
