True story: I went to grad school in Brighton, England, the place where raves never died. Everywhere you go in Brighton, there are middle-aged people wearing neon yarn hair, a holdover from their days in the rave caves of the ’90s. Often, these rave casualties would tote around their children, and many times I felt pangs of second-hand embarrassment for the tweens whose moms and dads sported fake neon dreadlocks down to their knees.
