Banana yellow and peachy orange is a difficult combo for most everyone. But not for Solange, because she is some kind of superhuman style heroine, capable of pulling off even the most bright and garish color combos. Somehow she makes this otherwise untenable combination look chic and completely current. The very definition of well played. [Photo: Fame/Flynet]
I’m gonna give it to your straight: if you didn’t get invited to Vanity Fair‘s infamous Oscar party, you’re probably a sad, pathetic commoner like me. Practically everyone in Hollywood was there, though I chose to only feature those who didn’t attend the awards or who changed into a pretty new frock for the party. And by the way, as much as we loved so many of the dresses on the Oscar red carpet, the dresses at Vanity Fair party put those to shame. Ah-mazing.
Daniel Day-Lewis, one of the hottest actors from the ’80s and early ’90s, famously took a five-year-hiatus from acting in order to become a cobbler in Italy. With his record-setting win at last night’s Academy Awards (he’s the first man to win three Best Actor trophies), it’s clear that Daniel is back and better than ever. You know what else is back? EAR CUFFS. And who better to model this trend than DDL himself? Click on for eight awesome ear cuffs worn by Daniel Day Lewis. I swear, I think I’m even hotter for him now.
This year’s Academy Awards were rather exceptional — no, not because of Anne Hathaway’s annoyingly breathless acceptance speech — but because there were relatively few fashion missteps on the red carpet. Even Helena Bonham-Carter, a reliable style weirdo, managed to reign in her batcrackers look just a tad. So while these looks technically fall in the “worst dressed” category, we’d probably take any of these gowns over some of the crappy looks you might catch at the Grammys or the MTV Awards.

Hollywood’s biggest stars absolutely looked their best at last night’s Academy Awards — so much so that we had a difficult time finding much we didn’t like. So for the most part, we’re going to focus on what we loved. We already showed you those wearing stunning sequins — and here are seven women who decided to go for the princess effect for their big night.
For the first time maybe ever, there were not a lot of fashion missteps on last night’s Academy Awards red carpet. Nearly every single Hollywood star brought it and we were hard pressed to find anything we didn’t like. So we decided to break down a couple of the trends that stood out, starting with the lovely ladies who got their sparkle on…
Tonight is the Academy Awards, which means Hollywood got the party started last night at the Independent Spirit Awards, where movies without big budget backing are celebrated for their achievements. The less fussy Indie Spirit Awards draws in a funkier-dressed crowd … let’s see who rocked in and who came up short.
And don’t forget to follow @TheFrisky, @havethehabit (Julie) and @xoamelia (me!), as well as the hashtag #OscarBuzz, on Twitter for tonight’s red carpet commentary!
Gwen Stefani is a classic California babe, and she pretty much always looks divine. Take this pic of her strutting down the street in L.A., with baby daddy Gavin Rossdale by her side (he’s not pictured, but trust us, he’s there.) She does the boyfriend jean trend with a stripey boy shirt and boxy blazer, but manages to feminize it a bit by adding a heeled bootie and scarf. And the best thing about Gwen’s look? It’s not all that hard to pull off. We’ve got the pieces to her puzzle after the jump! Keep reading »
I will always and forever love Juliette Lewis for her early roles in movies like “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape” and “Natural Born Killers.” But, however, hell to the no when it comes to what she’s doing here. Between the dyed red hair, the awful stone-washed jeggings and the baseball cap — even her dog is giving her the side eye of disapproval. [Photo: Fame/Flynet]
