Heidi Klum On Divorce From Seal: “It’s Not What I Wanted”

While divorce may be something families dread, supermodel Heidi Klum prefers to look at the silver lining.

“Did I wish for this to happen to my family? No,” Heidi Klum told Marie Claire about her divorce from Seal. “But everyone is healthy. We’re moving on with our lives. If someone got [very sick] — god forbid — that would be a real problem. It’s not what I wanted. It’s not what anyone wanted. But it’s not a real problem.”

Klum, who filed for divorce last April after seven years with Seal, is now dating her bodyguard Martin Kirsten — who is close to her age. At 39, Klum has no intentions of becoming a ”cougar.” Read more…

Danny DeVito & Rhea Perlman Have Split

Every once in a blue moon a Hollywood couple confirms a split and it’s absolutely baffling. This morning a rep for Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman confirmed that the couple has already separated and is living very single lives.  I think they are one of the few couples in the business that you actually kind of forgot about because you never heard a rumble of any trouble! Plus, they raised three kids in Tinseltown where most relationships, not even marriages make it under the standard two years! That alone earns them a spot in Hollywood private life history.

This split is just bizarre because Danny and Rhea have been together forever or at least for 40 years!  They met in 1970 when Rhea went to see an off-Broadway play that Danny was starring in and that was it, the two then lived together for eleven years before finally tying the knot in 1982. I realize that this is probably good news for all involved, but I, for one, am disappointed to learn that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have reached a divorce settlement just a little bit more than a week after Katie filed in New York City. ”The case has been settled and the agreement has been signed,” Holmes’ attorney Jonathan Wolfe told HLN. “We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life. We thank Tom’s counsel for their professionalism and diligence that helped bring about this speedy resolution.”  There is no word on what the terms of that settlement actually are.

So why am I disappointed? Because I suspect that one of the terms includes Holmes keeping her mouth shut about Scientology and how it might have affected her decision to leave Cruise. Keep reading »

Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes Start Settlement Talks

The Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes split may not result in a nasty court fight after all. TMZ says lawyers from both sides have begun “calm” settlement talks on custody of Suri and child support, among other things. If all goes well, it would mean that Cruise would not file a divorce case of his own in California. Yesterday, the BBC suggested such a filing was imminent after talking to his lawyer. Read more…

Katie Holmes’ decision to divorce Tom Cruise is big news for many reasons, the least of which is the actual demise of one of Hollywood’s most famous couples. Katie certain has that “Finally, I’m free!” glow about her. But perhaps I’m just projecting my own feelings; I learned a lot about Scientology during the time I spent assisting journalist Janet Reitman on her book, Inside Scientology, so I’m just tickled pink that Katie has decided to get her and her daughter out sooner rather than later. The rest of the world seems pretty happy about the fact that Katie Holmes has filed for divorce from Tom Cruise. The Telegraph titled their article on the split “Marriage Impossible?” Meanwhile, Amelia wrote, “Well, her contract must be up. Five years after they tied the knot in Italy, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are splitting.” Sherri Reed of The Stir took things a big step farther, writing, “Thank God, Katie Holmes has finally escaped that sham of a marriage … Run Katie run! Suri, take off your heels and run with her!”

So I know that I am in the minority in actually feel pretty bummed about this parting. Yes, Scientology freaks me out and I very much dislike the idea of religion where you buy your way in. But still, these two really did seem in love. And it’s always sad to see that end, no matter what.

Russell Brand is opening up from his split from Katy Perry after 14 months of marriage — and he’s got a surprisingly positive outlook on the whole divorce.

“I still love her as a human being,” Brand tells Ellen DeGeneres in a new interview airing today.  “Sometimes when you’re in a relationship I suppose it doesn’t work out, does it?  But that doesn’t mean I regret it or anything.
