“[A director] had an actor in to read opposite me. We hadn’t even been introduced. And the director told this guy to start seducing me and kissing my neck while we read. It was so weird. Eventually I just said: ‘I can’t do this.’ And, of course, I was told I was difficult and all that. But I felt really violated by letting it go on for 10 minutes to try to get a job. And, of course, I didn’t get the job. But it felt so old-fashioned, so inappropriate.”

– Sienna Miller opens up about her modern day “casting couch” experience when some creepy director watched an actor kiss her for 10 minutes during an “audition.” Miller played Tippi Hedren (above) in HBO’s movie “The Girl,” a disturbing flick about how director Alfred Hitchcock sexually harassed Hedren throughout the filming of “The Birds.” As gross as Miller’s experience was, it was nothing compared to the awful exploitation older Hollywood actresses have had to go through just to get work. “Nowadays we are far more able to achieve things without feeling indebted to some man who essentially wants to control and possess free-spirited women,” Miller said. I’m dying to know the identify of the offending director. [Guardian UK]

Casting Couch: Ashton Kutcher, Ryan Reynolds Coulda Been In “Horrible Bosses”

Over the weekend, “Horrible Bosses” grossed $28 million at the box office. But according to an interview Brett Ratner did with The Hollywood Reporter, in the six years the movie was in development, it could have had a very, very different cast. Ratner explained that many actors had once been attached to take Charlie Day, Jason Bateman, and Jason Sudeikis’ roles—including Ashton Kutcher, Ryan Reynolds, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Johnny Knoxville, and then Ashton Kutcher again. Casting Couch: Beyonce And Leonardo In “A Star Is Born”? Scarlett Teaming Up With Apatow?

This week, there is so much exciting news from that magical land where stars are cast for movies we won’t get to actually watch for years. First off, Clint Eastwood is slated to direct a remake of “A Star is Born,” the classic musical tale of an alcoholic actor who helps a youngin’ make it big while his own career crumbled. Both Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand have starred in remakes of it before, so I was interested to see who Eastwood would big for the female lead. And woo hoo—it will be Beyoncé. Will Smith was once rumored to for the male lead, but the word on the street now is that Eastwood is going after Leonardo DiCaprio, who he’s currently working with on “J. Edgar.” And that pairing would be kinda awesome. [Deadline]

Speaking of ladies we love belting out songs on screen, Scarlett Johansson has signed on for a musical, too. Keep reading »

5 Things You Should Know About Malin Akerman

I’m a little bit sad for Lindsay Lohan. The producers of the Linda Lovelace biopic “Inferno” decided that they’ve waited long enough for the young starlet to get herself together and have replaced her with actress Malin Akerman. Producer Chris Hanley explains, “For herself and her career in general it was really her decision to just focus on getting better psychologically. Malin was passionate to take this challenge of the role to task and we feel she has the talent to meet that challenge.” [People]

I guess Lindsay got burned by the inferno and in the meantime, the producers drummed up as much press as they possibly could from the situation. No matter, though. Malin is actually a great choice to replace Lohan. In case you have no idea who I’m talking about, we rounded up five things you should know about Malin. Keep reading »

Gwyneth Paltrow “Knew Better” Than To Lie On The Casting Couch

“Yup. When I was just starting out, someone suggested that we finish a meeting in the bedroom. I left. I was pretty shocked. I could see how someone who didn’t know better might worry, ‘My career will be ruined if I don’t give this guy a blow job!’”

– Gwyneth Paltrow reveals her experience with Hollywood’s notorious “casting couch” in the new issue of Elle. Maybe I’m biased because I cannot stand Goopie, but even this quote manages to sound snotty. [Huffington Post] Keep reading »

The Women Who Might Be Taking Lindsay Lohan’s Roles

I think when Lindsay Lohan started getting into trouble with the law, no one was particularly concerned and assumed that she would eventually find her way out. But it’s become clear that Lindsay’s really going for that rock bottom. And while the starlet has posted bail and entered yet another rehab facility, a few producers are worried that she won’t get her act together in time to be involved in their films, including the Linda Lovelace biopic “Inferno.” So who’s going to replace LiLo on the big screen? Find out after the jump. Keep reading »
