Usually I’m pretty meh on remakes of classic films, but I must admit I’ve been pumped about the reboot of Stephen King’s “Carrie” ever since Chloe Moretz and Julianne Moore were cast as the world’s most dysfunctional mother-daughter duo, and Kimberly Pierce was attached as the film’s director. Pierce, previously known for the film “Boys Don’t Cry,” is kind of an unexpected but exciting choice of director, and by the looks of the new trailer, it appears her remake sticks quite closely to the original film, albeit with some modern day updates. What do you think? Does it look as creepy as the original? I’m especially psyched to see Moore’s take on Carrie’s fanatical mother. You know she has a creepy as fuck side to her…
I originally planned to make this a list of the best menstruation moments in pop culture, but quickly discovered that Hollywood in particular does not have a very positive track record when it comes to tackling the crimson wave in movies and TV. Books and music have done a little better, but for the most part, periods have been portrayed either as something to be revolted by or feared, or for over-the-top comedic effect. So, instead this list evolved in the most memorable menstruation moments in movies, music, books and on TV, for better or worse. I know that there are others I didn’t include, so share any additional memorable period references in pop culture in the comments! Keep reading »
In Round One of our Real March Madness, Carrie, the cancer-stricken woman who treated her illness with medically-unproven “urine therapy,” won the “Strange Addiction” matchup, while Courtney Stodden trounced Courtney Love in the battle of the Crazy Courtneys. Now the pair face off in Round Two. If they have anything in common, besides being nutso, I’d say it’s that both are extremely devoted to their crazy choices in life — Carrie stands by her decision to ingest urine through every bodily orifice, while Courtney Stodden married way, way older Doug Hutchison and hasn’t looked back. So who wins this battle? Vote!
Who's The Craziest: Carrie The Pee-Drinker From "My Strange Addiction" Or Teen Bride Courtney Stodden?
- Carrie, the urine therapy enthusiast from "My Strange Addiction"! 'Nuff said. (52%, 441 Votes)
- Crazy is Courtney Stodden's middle name! (48%, 403 Votes)

“I’ve heard rumblings about a ‘Carrie’ remake, as I have about ‘The Stand’ and ‘It.’ Who knows if it will happen? The real question is why, when the original was so good? I mean, not ‘Casablanca’ or anything, but a really good horror-suspense film, much better than the book. Piper Laurie really got her teeth into the bad-mom thing. Although Lindsay Lohan as Carrie White … hmmm. It would certainly be fun to cast. I guess I could get behind it if they turned the project over to one of the Davids: Lynch or Cronenberg.”
—Steven King shares that he’d prefer that the original “Carrie,” one of our top 10 prom movies, not be remade. But if it is, he could see LiLo in the lead role. I dunno—that could be pretty awesome. And I cosign on David Lynch directing. [EW] Keep reading »
