Though we here at The Frisky are staunch Carey Mulligan fans, we can’t help being a little perplexed about her new hair color. In a world full of long-haired starlets looking more or less the same, Mulligan’s cropped cut is fresh and edgy, but the new blond hue washed the young actress out at yesterday’s Academy Awards Nominees’ Luncheon. British Elle points out that the shiny blond color “will compliment that golden statuette very nicely if she wins” on March 7, and there’s no arguing with that. Unfortunately, we don’t think it complements Mulligan herself all that much.
