Stop what you’re doing right now and watch the trailer for “The Great Gatsby.” We’ve got Leonardo DiCaprio as Gatsby, Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan, and Tobey Maguire as the naif, Nick Carraway. But forget about the cast, because they aren’t even factoring into my obsession with this two-minute trailer.  The 1920s’ clothes!  The Art Deco typography! The soundtrack! As if we needed any additional reasons to adore the extremely adorable Carey Mulligan, here’s one more: the starlet placed her Met Gala dress on eBay yesterday, with all the proceeds from the auction going to Oxfam America. The custom Prada dress (constructed of silver and gold metal paillettes, if you recall) began at the modest price of $500 and is currently at $1,050, but considering the listing doesn’t close until the 19th, there’s a good chance the bids are going to skyrocket. Of course, I don’t know how many people could actually fit into Carey’s teeny-tiny gown, but how amazing would it be to hang that shit up in your house? It’s almost as good as going to the Met Ball yourself. Almost. Pssst — Carey, I know you’re all about keeping your private life private and I respect that, but girl, we want to see your damn wedding dress! [Racked]

This morning, we told you that actress Carey Mulligan (“An Education,” “Shame”) married Marcus Mumford, of the band Mumford & Sons, in a super-secret ceremony this past weekend. The twosome had only been dating for about five months when they got engaged — not that they ever officially confirmed their plans to wed. (Something else I didn’t know until today — the two were childhood pen pals! Is that not the cutest?)  So it’s no surprise that their wedding, held in a barn on a working farm (would you expect anything else from one of the Mumford boys, I mean really?), was kept completely hush-hush. “I really try not to read anything [online], and then occasionally I will be completely self-destructive, once every six months, and it’s really horrible. Sometimes people write the most ghastly things, and it makes you feel like crap … A while ago I read some stuff, and it was tons of people all saying I wasn’t beautiful enough to be an actress. And I thought, well, that’s not what you’re meant to be. I’ve never aspired to play a character that was beautiful.”

– I want to hate Carey Mulligan because I’m madly jealous she filmed “Shame” with my boyfriend Michael Fassbender, which, of course, involved lots of physical proximity to the most handsome man alive. But then she opens her mouth and says stuff like this and I can’t help but love her. There is nothing wrong with playing a character whose sole purpose is to be beautiful. Carey Mulligan is a great actress and has brought a maturity to all of her roles — from “An Education” to “Never Let Me Go” to “Drive” — despite her youthful age. In her latest movie “Shame,” she tackles seriously sexy territory and even has a nude scene. Still, I was sort of surprised to see her on the cover of W in basically just a white bra. I’m used to seeing starlets like Megan Fox and Lindsay Lohan in just their skivvies, but there’s something regal and elegant about Carey’s — and the magazine’s — approach. What do you think of this cover?

“I used to drive ["Drive" director Nicolas Winding Refn] to and from work when we were doing the movie — I didn’t work very much on “Drive,” I just came into work and stared at Ryan Gosling occasionally — and one day we shot until two in the morning. I’d never had Red Bull before, and I had, like, six of them that night, and I was like, “This is THE BEST THING, EVER!” So I was freaking out. We got in the car at the end of the night, and I had been wearing these shoes that really hurt, and I had pink fluffy slippers in the back of my car and I put them on; meanwhile, Nic had got sent a bunch of free tracksuits by Puma, so he had been wearing Puma tracksuits to work every day, and he looked hilarious.
