Beauty Test Drive: Calvin Klein Beauty Fragrance

It’s not every day I come across a fragrance that can be worn year round, but Calvin Klein Beauty is appropriate for summer, fall, and whenever feels right. With notes of jasmine and neo-lily (a new interpretation of a lily), Beauty has a floral essence we’ve all come to identify with summer. But the top notes of ambrette seeds give the fragrance a spicy warmth that’s comforting this chilly time of year. Cedarwood adds a rugged familiarity. The heavenly scent lingers in the air and isn’t immediately identifiable. (Don’t you just hate when you recognize your favorite perfume on a stranger, and she smells as if she doused herself in it?) The end result is a fragrance that’s both feminine and sophisticated. [$65 for 1.7 oz., Macy's] Keep reading »

Quotable: Marc Jacobs Explains Why He Was Naked For Bang Ad

“I’m not Tom Ford in terms of the grooming and the knowledge of clothes and the precision and perfection of getting dressed. There’s nothing I can wear in this ad that isn’t going to look ridiculous. At one point, I tried jeans and a shirt, and it didn’t work. So then Juergen said, ‘Take off the clothes. So I did, and that became the ad … I did feel good about the way I looked, so it was easy and—well, a guy looks better to me with no clothes on than with clothes! How’s that?”

Calvin Klein Gets In On The Leggings Game A Little Too Late?

Come fall, Calvin Klein Legwear will launch Ultra Fit, a line of control tights and leggings. The opaque jersey tights and leggings will have a a ribbed control top, flat seams, and a comfortable, wide waistband that stays flat against the stomach. Ultra Fit is meant to give the wearer a sleek and clean appearance. Now you might be asking yourself: “Isn’t it a little late for Calvin Klein to get into the leggings game? Didn’t leggings hit the fashion graveyard?” Keep reading »

You ladies know I like to introduce you to my latest boyfriends. Right now, it’s model David Agbodji, and isn’t he pretty! Yes, he is. And he’s mine. Here’s to hoping we get married! I’ll invite every one of you. After the jump, check out more sexy-steamy photos of my imaginary boyfriend. Keep reading »

Quotable: Calvin Klein’s Francisco Costa Says Waifs Are So Over

“Calvin Klein originally started the whole waif moment and not much has been done since then … Lara was our exclusive four years ago. We’ve never had someone who really represented our houses and all our licensees in the same way. She is very current, very beautiful and very womanly. It’s time for that persona and for that body. She’s divine, gorgeous and we will support her in that.”

– Calvin Klein’s Francisco Costa on model Lara Stone’s more curvy figure and its place in high fashion. It’s good to see that even Calvin Klein, the brand that hired a nearly-naked, teenage Kate Moss to usher in the era of the waif, is broadening its approach in terms of weight. Lara Stone’s “curvy” physique is still totally slim, but she’s at least got the sort of body type that every day women are more likely to relate to — you know, not emaciated. Calvin Klein Brings Back Iconic Cher Horowitz Dress … For $900

“Clueless” might just be the greatest movie of our time because it’s one of the most iconic pop culture references shared by both Generation Y and Generation X. And OK, yeah, I maybe wrote a 20-page term paper on the movie for my senior semiotics seminar, so it’s clear I’m obsessed. (Loser!) But, here is some of the most rad news I’ve heard in a while: Calvin Klein is remaking the dress Cher Horowitz wore on her date to the dance with Christian. The sad news: It costs $916. At the same time, this kind of makes me want to start a campaign for someone to reproduce the entire “Clueless” wardrobe. Keep reading »

Quotable: Brooke Shields On Her Iconic Calvin Klein Commerical

“The controversy [over declaring, 'You wanna know what comes between me and my Calvins? Nothing.'] didn’t surprise me because I’d had experience with it since I was 11. The pants came above my belly button–even the one with my shirt open, you didn’t see anything. Compared to the things I’d done before, this was like being in winter gear.”

Brooke Shields talks to The New York Post about her iconic 1980 Calvin Klein commercial (clip above). Could you imagine something like that creating such a stir these days? [Huffington Post] Keep reading »

I Would Like To See His …

You know, working at The Frisky isn’t easy. We spend hours every day, searching the web for the freakiest men’s underwear commercials and the best half-naked gravy wrestlers. It’s a hard job, but somebody’s got to do it. Thankfully, it’s because of our dedication to our work that we are able to bring you gems like the video you see here, starring Mehcad Brooks, Kellan Lutz, Hidetoshi Nakata, and Fernando Verdasco in a Calvin Klein X underwear commercial that recognizes the fact that, yes, we want to see what they’re hiding in those tighty-whities. You’re welcome. Keep reading »
