Joss Whedon is probably best known for creating “Buffy The Vampire Slayer,” “Angel” and “The Avengers.” He’s also an ardent supporter of the zombie apocalypse, whether it be the fast moving zombies of “28 Days Later” or the slow, stubborn zombies of “Night Of The Living Dead.” Either way, Joss wants more zombies. And that’s why he supports Mitt Romney for president. Joss believes Romney will bring on the zombpocalypse faster than President Obama. What’s your take? Which candidate is more likely to bring on the zombies? [Buzzfeed]

Sarah Michelle Gellar Gets The Winkelvoss Treatment In “Ringer”

“The second you take away fight sequences … let me tell you something, your days lighten up a lot. Also, the girl playing my twin sister is always on time, always hits her marks, always knows her lines, always agrees with everything I say—they’re some of the easiest scenes I’ve ever filmed. I can’t believe how far visual effects have come—it’s been a while since I’ve been this involved. It’s much faster but it’s still a learning process with face replacement technology. Yet I hug my myself, I lay my head on her shoulder, there’s so much you can do. I thought it would be old school Patty Duke, like [sings] “We’re cousins!” It’s not like that anymore.”

Sarah Michelle Gellar talks about her new show, “Ringer,” in which she plays twin sisters, one who assumes the other’s life. Overall, she says playing two separate people is still easier than doing Buffy the Vampire Slayer‘s fight scenes. [PopWrap]

Sarah Michelle Gellar Thinks A Buffy Reboot Is “The Worst Idea Ever”

Speaking of reboots of classic female heroines, Sarah Michelle Gellar spoke to CNN this week about (a) her partnership with Nestle’s Share the Joy of Reading project and (b) the new “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” movie that Warner Brothers is currently working on. And our girl does not mince words. “It was a movie, it’s been made—it stars Kristy Swanson. They don’t need to make another one. I think it’s a horrible idea to try to do a ‘Buffy’ without Joss Whedon!” Sarah Michelle said. “That’s like honestly, to be incredibly non-eloquent, that’s the dumbest idea I ever heard.” Co-sign. Even if they cast the awesome Heather Morris of “Glee,” it just won’t be right. [NY Post] Keep reading »

Buffy Who? Sarah Michelle Gellar To Star In A New Thriller Series

Over the weekend, I got sucked into a “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” marathon on Oxygen. The classic vampire show was, in a word, amazing and Sarah Michelle Gellar was the perfect mix of kick-butt and vulnerable, with spot-on comedic timing. So why has her career tanked? Luckily, Sarah has a new show in the works—CBS’ “Ringer.” (Which bears no relationship to “The Ring.”) In this now-greenlit thriller series, Sarah plays twin sisters, uber-troubled Bridget and wealthy, perfect Siobhan, who had a big falling out for some mysterious reason. When Siobhan dies in a boating accident, troubled Bridget steps in and assumes her life, even sleeping in the same bed with her husband, only to find that she has a bounty on her head, too. Heather Morris To Be Buffy? How She Stacks Up To Sarah Michelle Gellar And Kristy Swanson

Back in November, we told you that Warner Brothers is making a new “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” movie, only without Sarah Michelle Gellar, who became a girl power icon on the TV show, or Joss Whedon, who created both the series and the 1992 movie. Naturally, this doesn’t have us Buffy-philes very happy. But some casting news could be the silver lining on a cloudy day. Apparently, Heather Morris—aka the amazing Brittany on “Glee“—is being courted for the role. “They’re considering me!” Heather says. “I found out and I almost peed my pants ’cause I was so excited!”

So how does Heather compare to her Buffy predecessors, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Kristy Swanson? A full analysis after the jump. Keep reading »

Kristy Swanson Not Mad At The Joss Whedon-Less “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”

“If they wanted me to be a part of it, I think that would be fantastic and that it would be a blast. … There are die-hard Joss Whedon fans who absolutely love him to death, and rightly so. He’s a brilliant man, no doubt. I love everything Buffy. I don’t care who’s doing it.”

A New “Buffy” Movie? Don’t Get Too Excited

When I heard yesterday that “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” had been greenlighted for a movie adaption—again—I felt my heart start to palpitate. My first thoughts were: What will Joss Whedon have up his sleeve this time? Gosh, it will be so nice to see Sarah Michelle Gellar kick some butt again. And, most importantly, will Spike be back?

But then I started reading more, and my initial excitement turned to outrage. First off, there’s no word yet on whether Sarah Michelle will be reprising her iconic role. And, apparently, Joss will have nothing to do with this new movie at all. Keep reading »

Quotable: Joss Whedon’s Formula For “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”

“There’s a whole recipe for how to make a Buffy. Take one cup Sarah Connor from the first ‘Terminator’ movie; one cup Ripley [from 'Alien']; three tablespoons of the younger sister in ‘Night of the Comet’; a few sprigs of ‘A Little Princess’—the book, not the movies; and a pinch of Jimmy Stewart for pain, because nobody does better pain. Bake those up. Once it’s cool, add a little Rosalind Russell from ‘His Girl Friday.’ All of this must be in a P.J.-Soles-in-Halloween crust. That’s very important.”

Guess That Fan Fiction, Win Nerd Respect!

My best friend once made the mistake of telling me that she had written “Buffy” fan fiction when she was younger and I mercilessly teased her for years, even though it was that nerdy center that endeared her to me in the first place. Some of you may not be familiar with the steamy underground world of fan fiction where devoted fans think up (often sexy) scenarios for their favorite characters. For fun, we’ve rounded up six fanfic excerpts and taken out the nouns so you can guess which show/book/movie they are based on. Guess all six correctly and win … dork credibility? Keep reading »

“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” Movie Remake In The Works

You either are or love someone who is a “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” fan. For me, it’s my best friend AJ who once wrote “Buffy” fan-fiction and will never live it down. But in saying you’re a Buffy fan, everyone agrees it means you love the TV show, not the 1992 movie. (Which I argue was amazing purely on the basis of Luke Perry.) Yesterday, it was announced that a second “Buffy” movie is in the works—magical words fans of the show have been waiting to hear since it ended six years ago. But they were chagrined to discover that “Buffy” scribe Joss Whedon is not at all involved in this new project. Instead, the remake will be the brainchild of Fran and Kaz Kuzui, who produced the original movie. Oh, and Sarah Michelle Gellar will not be starring in this new flick. Nor will their be any Angel, Willow, Xander, or Spike in this new slayer universe. [HollywoodReporter] Keep reading »
