Chic On The Street: Less Is More

Less is so totally more, especially when we see a luxe version of wardrobe basics worn well. So we snapped a pic of pretty Mariana Tolosa, 20, who was on break nearby her sales job at Épica boutique in Palermo Soho. Her off-white top and jeans are from Épica; her sandals are courtesy of Paruolo; the charm-filled necklace is from a feria (street fair) in Parque Serrano and that cool belt is from Wanama. Curious, we took a look inside Épica and can report that it carries awesome downtown chic designs. Keep reading »

Chic On The Street: Everything Old Is New

Is it just us, or is Carlota Pederson Madero surging ahead of the curve and channeling “Papa Don’t Preach” at the same time? We had to stop Carlota, 21, outside Buenos Aires’ Alto Palermo movie theater to ask about her sharp threads: The black trench and striped mini dress are from H&M, the scarf is a gift from Paris, and the vintage ’90s Kenzo platform loafers belong to her mother. Get this—she donned this outfit to go sight-seeing with her grandparents. People, it’s crucial to always make the effort. Keep reading »

Chic On The Street: South American Rockabilly

We noticed how Sabrina Soledad Morelli looked mysterious and romantic, yet sorta rockabilly, leaning up against the cafe wall. Sabrina, 21, wore a pink gingham Complot blouse, patent leather Clona stacked Mary Janes, and a cute bag by Prüne. She didn’t reply when we asked who she was waiting for. Maybe she didn’t understand our Spanish, or she’s just mysterious like we thought. Keep reading »

Chic On The Street: Red Hot

We spotted Aïda Oualalou, 20, browsing through street vendor jewelry on an extremely congested Avenida Santa Fe. This finance student says she finds most of her wardrobe at street fairs, or ferias. Buenos Aires has plenty of them within the city, and all her jewelry is from various ferias except the ivory cuff from Senegal. Not that Aïda needs any extra help in the sizzle department, but she manages to amp up this scorchin’ red number (from a San Telmo feria) with a gold, braided belt (from a Recoleta feria). The bag was a present, and the sandals are from Zara. Also, do we really need to mention how much we love her hair? Overt works for her. We love. Keep reading »

Chic On The Street: Indie Fashion Poster Girl

We thought Lucia Alvarez Fourcade was a girl who looks like she enjoys life when we first spotted her. Maybe it’s that vibrant pattern or the neo-folksy styling. Nineteen-year-old Lucia, an undergrad in psychology, enthusiastically shared that her dress, earrings and necklace are the work of indie designer Lucia LaPlacette, all sold at a Buenos Aires antique market called Anasagasti Antigüedades. And her sandals are from Columbia. So cute. Keep reading »

Chic On The Street: Totally Organic

This rare gem stands out from a sea of hyper trendies in a more demure ensemble. We found Ana Pucci on her way home from cooking the lunch rush at Artemisia, an organic vegetarian restaurant—which is also pretty rare in Buenos Aires. We were into her sweet Sanskrit skirt, which she bought near Plaza Serrano. All-natural, indeed. Keep reading »
