Brooke Shields Still Fits Into Her Calvin Jeans, Circa 1980—And You?

Apparently, Brooke Shields recently tried on the jeans she wore in her famous 1980 Calvin Klein commercial. Yup, the very same ones she wore when she was 15 years old. Here’s what she said:

“My mom kept those jeans, she kept everything. I just found two pairs of those jeans … They didn’t look pretty, but they fit! I got those suckers zipped back up.”

Will You Try Latisse Now That Claire Danes Is Shilling It?

Initially, I wasn’t convinced Latisse, the prescription drug that promises to grow fuller, longer, and darker lashes, would be effective because Brooke Shields had really long and thick lashes to begin with. Plus, those warnings of darkened irises and eyelids really scared me. And then The New York Times featured that woman who used Latisse without a prescription and now suffers from discolored eyelids the shade of a black eye. I decided L’Oreal’s Lash Boosting Serum was a safer way to maintain my lashes. But I’m really impressed by the results Latisse’s new spokesperson, Claire Danes, experienced. Her eyelashes went from meager and wispy to long and naturally full-looking, the kind of results you’d expect from lash extensions. There’s something a little more trust-worthy about Claire, who admitted to experiencing some redness within the first few weeks of use. In what may very well be the saddest display of refusing to let the past go that we’ve ever seen, Brooke Shields posed for this ridiculous French Vogue “Lady Cops” editorial. Based on a made-up TV show, costarring Elaine Irwin and shot by Bruce Weber, the spread is an attempt at campiness that definitely falls flat. We feel awkward just looking at it. Both are hot older women, but there’s something to be said for aging gracefully. In that respect, this shoot is a total fail for Shields and Irwin. Does College Really Matter For Starlets Like Miley Cyrus?

On “Hannah Montana,” Brooke Shields plays Miley Cyrus’ dead mother, but rumor has it that off-screen she is playing the role of Miley’s high school guidance counselor. Apparently, Shields’ motherly instincts kicked in when the young starlet told her last year that she was planning to skip college. Even though toothpaste commercials don’t require knowledge of French literature, Shields explained to the Miles that she is a better person for getting her degree from Princeton. Now, the word is that Cyrus may be considering following in Shields’ footsteps and applying to some Ivy League schools in 2010. I somehow can’t see Miley Cyrus studying Proust, but I get Shields’ point. An education never hurt anyone—especially a young rock star/actress who has been known to bare her midriff and make ignorant remarks. Even though many college grads do not end up doing anything remotely related to their undergrad degrees, the experience is about personal growth … right? [Celebitchy]

Dov Charney Claims Bushy Brows Are Back

The ever-controversial American Apparel CEO, Dov Charney, sent out his latest newsletter to employees with a “helpful” tip regarding current eyebrow aesthetics. Over-tweezing is so yesterday or something, and now it’s all about thick, healthy brows, à la teenaged Brooke Shields, which really did happen so yesterday. We’re not sure why he would share his personal eyebrow-trimming preference with the class. (Is he really suggesting women who work at American Apparel should stop waxing their brows or is he just being the head of a fashion company sharing a seasonal trend? It’s unclear.) Brooke Shields Kiddie Porn Removed From London Museum

A nude photograph of Brooke Shields taken when she was 10 (yes, 10!) was removed from a London exhibit this week after Kidscape, an anti-child-abuse activism group in the U.K., declared it a “magnet for pedophiles.” Whoa … back up. Brooke Shields? Kiddie porn? How? Artist Richard Prince’s piece of Shields was set to be part of the “Pop Life: Art in a Material World” exhibition at the Tate Modern opening this Thursday. Prince’s infamous piece is a photograph of a photograph (yes, twice removed … how post-modern) of a heavily made-up 10-year-old Shields originally taken by Garry Gross — shot with the permission of Shields’ mother. Is it weird to anyone else that Shields’ mother would be down with it in the first place? The piece has shown in museums such as the Guggenheim in the past without hoopla, but the Tate Modern removed the pic and shut down the entire room. So what do you think? Kiddie porn or art? Joan Rivers has been mouthing off all around town. Yesterday TMZ posted a video of her calling out Brooke Shields for pretending to be besties with Michael Jackson, even though she hadn’t actually seen him in years. Rivers snarked, “It’s called face time.” Clearly, face time is something Rivers is familiar with. Between winning “Celebrity Apprentice” earlier this year, getting roasted on Comedy Central, and her new show “How’d You Get So Rich?” on TV Land, the gossip queen has been drumming up more drama than usual. Have you seen that commercial with Brooke Shields hawking that new prescription eyelash cream? Poor Brooke! First she waited until she was 22 to have sex because she felt fat or too tall or whatever, then she had the postpartum depression, and now we learn how she’s endured unthinkable life-long trauma because of “inadequate” eyelashes.
