If The “16 & Pregnant” Girls Are Glamorizing Teen Pregnancy, They’re Doing A Crap Job

Before the sexual revolution happened in the ’60s and ’70s, life got bleak for pregnant teen girls really fast. You could be cast from your home and sent away to give birth in seclusion, or risk an illegal and dangerous back-alley abortion. In 2010, the pendulum has swung entirely in the opposite direction — but not necessarily in a good way. MTV allegedly pitched “Teen Mom” as a program after Jamie-Lynn Spears (Brit-Brit’s little sis) became pregnant at 16; last year, Bristol Palin made the cover of People magazine and soon she’ll be dancing with the stars, while Maci Bookout and Farah Abraham from “16 & Pregnant” grace the covers of OK! and Us Weekly with their babies as props. So it’s fair to ask if our social attitudes have swung entirely in the opposite direction, too: Does putting girls whose only claim to fame is getting knocked up while they still had a learner’s permit “glamorize” teen pregnancy? Vanity Fair Accuses Sarah Palin Of Relying On A “Push-Up Bra” To Get What She Wants

Vanity Fair has a new smear piece about Sarah Palin and thankfully this one was not dictated by Levi Johnston. According to this latest hit job, Alaska’s most famous pitbull in lipstick offered to get Bristol Palin and Levi married “if it would be good for the campaign,” threatens her employees, and is prone to ‘F-word’-filled arguments with her husband, Todd. My personal favorite part of the piece is where Levi extends a private apology to the Palins and the hockey mom asks him if he’s wearing “a wire” and if she is being recorded. (He was not.) That public apology that Levi issued? Allegedly, it was written by Todd Palin himself. Levi, through his lawyer, told Vanity Fair, “I had nothing to do with putting that statement together.”

The Cast Of “Dancing With The Stars” Speaks

Last night, during a commercial break from “Bachelor Pad,” “Dancing with the Stars” unveiled its new cast members. And as we’d suspected, the new cast includes: Bristol Palin, Audrina Patridge, Brandy, Jennifer Grey, Florence Henderson, The Situation, Michael Bolton, and David Hasselhoff. The surprises? That the amazing Margaret Cho will be rumba-ing alongside them. Other than that, retired NFL quarterback Kurt Warner, retired basketball player Rick Fox, and actor/rapper Kyle Massey are also on the bill. To which we say, Who?

It is really happening, people, and it will be terrifying: Levi Johnston‘s proposed reality show will follow his run for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, as he tries to juggle fatherhood and that sterling “Hollywood career” of his. This trainwreck will be called “Loving Levi: The Road To The Mayor’s Office” and a pilot is being filmed by Scott Stone and David Weintraub, two reality TV veterans. No networks are attached to “Loving Levi” just yet. However, the last line on Scott & Co.’s resume was TLC’s “Extreme Food Sculpting.”

Least surprising Levi Johnston news ever: upon reuniting with Bristol Palin and declaring their surprise engagement on the cover of US Weekly, the fame whore from Wasilla pushed for a reality show. Bristol said hells no and kicked his Playgirl ass to the curb. (His concern that he’d possibly knocked up his ex-girlfriend Lanesia Garcia surely didn’t help.) “Bristol is heartbroken. She described texting him and getting no answer,” People magazine executive editor Betsy Gleick told “The Early Show.” “Then eventually she said Levi said, ‘Hey do you want to be on a reality show?” Keep reading »

Two weeks ago, Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston revealed their surprise engagement in Us Weekly, which featured them in a cover story and cheesy romantic videos on the mag’s website. But today Bristol has gone to People magazine to announce she’s ended her out-of-the-blue engagement with the father of her son, Tripp. “It’s over. I broke up with him,” she told People.
