Last night’s “Dancing with the Stars” brought a very special surprise. Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas dancing in monkey suits while doing the jive to the theme song from my favorite old TV show, “The Monkees.” See the girl monkey who can’t quite keep up? Yeah, that’s Bristol. I wonder if Sarah Palin watched the performance and felt like she was back in Alaska, watching grizzly bears fight? [Newser] Keep reading »

So, sue us, we are watching this week’s episode of “Dancing with the Stars” a little late. But we just had to bring you this clip of Bristol Palin getting sexy while rumba-ing with Mark Ballas to “Umbrella.” Her dancing was totally stiff, but that hip shimmy move wasn’t bad. And the faux making out was kind of hot. Do we think Sarah Palin, who was in the audience, liked Bristol’s warp-speed shirt pull-off maneuver? We bet she’ll be using that on Todd when she gets home.
“They wanted Todd to be on the show. I think that would have been cool to see, too. But here Bristol is… doing something all new … [If I were on the show], they would have to let me dribble back and forth and maybe pivot and do a jump shot or something as part of the routine. In fact, when Bristol said, ‘I don’t know how to dance,’ I told her, just think of it as learning some basketball plays.”

In the spirit of one-up-manship, Bristol Palin proves that her ex Levi Johnston isn’t the only person with music video cred. Just days after Levi’s music video debut, Bristol announces her own cameo in Alaskan rock band Static Cycle’s new vid. She plays “a mother nature role” with a babushka, mink coat, and iced-out eyebrows and eyelashes. The high-concept video is set in an ice hotel with ice sculptures. At one point, she even romances a rose in a bell jar. Are we sure she didn’t mean to say she played a “sorcerer”? [ET] Keep reading »
Last night, Sarah Palin dropped by to watch the live filming of “Dancing with the Stars,” sitting in the front row. But apparently, several members of the audience could not contain their lack of excitement and booed her as she took her seat. The boos could be heard in the telecast—they happened before Sarah appeared onscreen and while Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough were doing their post-dance interview. The two thought the boos were for them and looked confused since their quickstep was pretty great. A minute later, Sarah appeared to the folks at home for this interview, which reveals that she’s rooting for “Bristol the Pistol.” Sarah also seems to have coined a new word: Zawesome. Totally taking that one. Keep reading »
Bristol Palin‘s “Dancing with the Stars” partner, Mark Ballas, made the trek to Alaska this weekend to meet the Palins, check out the frozen scenery, and play an acoustic guitar set at a bar called Rumrunners. He posted the pics above on his Twitter page captioned, “Me and my gorgeous partner Bristol … Me and Mama Palin.” Yep, that should curb rumors that these two are dating. Former “Dancing With The Stars” contestant Kelly Osbourne knows whom she is rooting for on season 11. Kelly says that her vote is going to Bristol Palin, for her bravery. “I have a real soft spot for Bristol Palin,” said Kelly. “I really do. I think she’s going out there and trying, and to not have a family member in the audience is the hardest thing in the world.” Let’s hope Mama Palin can make it to some of the performances, because I am sure this beats any kind of elementary school dance recital. Kelly Osbourne isn’t the only one to weigh in. After the jump, other celebrities who’ve thrown their support behind one of the dancers. Keep reading »
Last night was the season premiere of “Dancing with the Stars” and one of the biggest surprises of the night was that Bristol Palin, “teen activist,” wasn’t the most horrible dancer. Sure, she was awkward and a little stiff and definitely shy, but she showed bursts of potential throughout her minute-plus routine, and even, dare I say it, a tiny little dash of sex appeal. Could Bristol actually be a real threat in the competition? If so, let’s hope Mama Palin doesn’t confuse this dark horse for a caribou in a fringe mini.
“She’s not ready. She’s very nervous. She’s never performed or done anything like that in her life, so it’s like we’re starting completely from scratch and having to build her confidence and make her feel like she’s doing it well. [Bristol] needs to work on moving her hips and not being shy to be sexy and sensual and womanly when she’s dancing. She’s a little shy, little taken back. She’s out of her element. She’s uncomfortable. It’s new for her. But she’s getting comfortable with it as we go along.”
— Mark Ballas, who is Bristol Palin‘s dancing partner on “Dancing With The Stars,” says the Wasilla teen mom is not quite ready for a hotcha cha-cha-cha. Sounds like her $30K-a-pop pro-abstinence speeches are making it tough to call forth her womanly wiles. [iVillage] Keep reading »
