Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom welcomed son Flynn on January 6 and in addition to being in awe of her “beautiful little soul” the new mom is cherishing the experience of breastfeeding her newborn son.
“I intend to breastfeed for as long as I can,” she said. “My breast milk will give our little Flynn the nutrition he needs for his continued healthy development and to all mums out there I am sure you will make the right choice for you and your baby.” Read more… Keep reading »
Single mother Suzanne Morgan made a life-changing discovery one evening after she put her daughter Tasha to bed. Her dog Dixie was howling, barking uncontrollably, hungry to be fed. She opened the cupboards and discovered they were bare. She was low on cash after her husband split. So instead of going to the store to pick up some kibble, she tried something more … uh … unusual. She breastfed her dog. Yes, she brought her DOG to her nipple and let it suckle. Keep reading »
If you’re in the middle of your breakfast (or lunch), you may want to bookmark this article and come back to it later. That’s because we’re going to talk about breastfeeding, which is a beautiful and natural thing, to be sure, but when it’s a 6-year-old who’s suckling at momma’s boob? Hmm, not so much. Amanda Hurst is a 29-year-old mother of two sons: one five months and one 6 years old, and she breastfeeds both of them … occasionally at the same time. And by her comments, it would seem Amanda breastfeeds her 6-year-old more out of convenience or her own personal enjoyment than anything else. Keep reading »

Oh wait, you mean I have to go through childbirth and then breastfeed a baby? Damn it, New York State Department of Health. There you go burying the lede. Keep reading »
Beware fast-food chains — if you think you can stop breastfeeding moms from whipping out their boobs in your restaurants, think again! And take a lesson from the McDonald’s in Glendale, AZ., which erroneously kicked out a woman breastfeeding in their store, despite the fact that Arizona law allows it. As a result of the gaffe, dozens of breastfeeding mamas converged on the restaurant in protest for a “nurse-in.” Keep reading »
“I think breastfeeding really helped me keep my figure. Some people here (in the US) think they don’t have to breastfeed, and I think ‘Are you going to give chemical food to your child when they are so little?’ I think there should be a worldwide law, in my opinion, that mothers should breastfeed their babies for six months.”
– Gisele Bundchen tells Harper’s Bazaar UK that she thinks the people in charge of passing “worldwide laws” — who dat? — should make breastfeeding mandatory. Look, I’m about as pro-breastfeeding as anyone and plan on whippin’ out my titty whenever my future babies demand it, but Gisele seems to forget that there are very good reasons why some women choose or are not able to breastfeed. Of course, in Gisele’s world, giving birth is a painless experience; no wonder she thinks breastfeeding should be a piece of cake. [Google News] Keep reading »
Uh oh, mommy-blogger kerfluffle! The deputy editor of the UK’s Mother and Baby magazine, Kathryn Blundell, has ruffled some feathers after describing breastfeeding as “creepy.” In a recent article in Mother and Baby, Blundell wrote that she bottle-fed her baby because “seeing your teeny, tiny innocent baby latching on to where your lover has been feels, well, a little creepy.”
You know, I actually agree with her. Keep reading »
“I know that for me, I need to try to cover myself while breastfeeding so that no one snaps a picture. If this wasn’t the case, I probably wouldn’t mind as much because my son is my biggest concern. My attitude is, if someone sees a little somethin’ somethin’, don’t look if you don’t like it.”
— Kourtney Kardashian, mama to baby Mason, weighing in on sister Kim’s recent foot-in-mouth tweets about a woman breastfeeding at a restaurant. I prefer “Sensible Kourtney” to “Let Me Wax Your Bikini Line For You Kourtney.” [E! Online.com] Keep reading »
Kim Kardashian generously shares her T&A with the world. But when it comes to a mother breast feeding her baby in public? Kim says, “EWW.”
On Saturday, the reality star tweeted that a woman sitting next to her at lunch was breastfeeding with no cover-up and then put the baby on the table to change its dirty diaper. She later tweeted the mom “had her boobs out” and her sister Kourtney breast feeds, but at least “covers herself” and does not have her “boobs exposed.” Because if there’s one thing Kardashian sisters stand for, it’s modesty!

A new law in Saudi Arabia has caused quite a bit of confusion. Are you sitting down? OK, so a strict version of Islam forbids women to come in contact with men who are not their relatives. And so the Saudis have issued a fatwa demanding that women who come into regular contact with unrelated men should breastfeed them so that they can be considered relatives. But the big issue is not the law, believe it or not. The heated debate is about the logistics of the law. Keep reading »
