In America, the politicians act like big boobs. But in Venezuala, one politician is raffling them off. Gustavo Rojas is running as an alternate on the country’s General Assembly and is raffling off free breast implants at $6 a ticket to fundraise for his campaign. Rojas admitted his method of fundraising is unusual, but claimed it’s no different than raffling off a TV set. Hmm. The word I’d use would be “opportunistic”: According to the country’s Plastic Surgery Society, 30,000 people got breast implants in 2006. We’ll have to wait until the election at the end of September to find out if auctioning off a new pair of breasts is a bankable campaign strategy. [AP] Keep reading »
Over at Slate, advice columnist Dear Prudence tackles an epic question of breast proportions: Should a woman get a boob job because her boyfriend is a fan of all the big breasts that he sees in porn movies? “I am a B cup,” she writes, “and although he says he loves my body, he adds, ‘But I’d really like it if your breasts were larger.’” How’s she know that? He watches porn on the regular, because, he says, he prefers a different body type to hers. Oh, and she used to be a model. So. Yeah. Prudie suggests she ask her man if he’s interested in getting penis enlargement surgery, and then, maybe! And also tell him to basically shove it. And to not get implants. Which Prudie thinks will make him feel relieved. Which I am not so sure about. I guess I feel like if you are writing to an advice columnist about whether or not you should get breast implants because your boyfriend watches a lot of porn, you should spend less time writing to advice columnists and more time finding a new man. But, you know, I’m not an advice columnist. [Slate] Keep reading »
If there’s one thing I like more than a boobs story, it’s a deadly boobs story. Brazilian model Sheyla Hershey, 30, of Houston, Texas, is in possession of the world’s biggest breasts, measuring in at a whopping 38KKK. Last year she told the Houston station KRIV, “I want to look better each day, every day. Everybody’s got a dream inside, you know? And it’s good when you can make your dream come true.” Keep reading »
“I’m very happy with myself. For me, my story behind it was making young people actually think before they do something. For me it was waiting. It’s the message I actually had to say. When people found out about it, one person asked me and I just couldn’t lie. I didn’t feel the reason to lie. I’m proud of myself that I waited. That’s 10 years I was like ‘I hate this top. It does not fit. I hate this top.’ … When I initially thought about that, I was 17 years old. That’s a ridiculous age to make a decision to do something different to your body.”
– Kelly Rowland‘s message to young people is to wait until they’re older to alter their bodies. The funny thing is, none of her fans knew she was waiting 10 years to get breast implants until she actually had the surgery. Why can’t celebrities just say, “I really disliked this part of my body and had the funds to change it, so after years of frustration, I did something about my insecurity,” and leave the whole message to young people excuse out of it? But at least Kelly has the courage to admit she has breast implants, unlike some other celebs who altered their bodies at a young age and pretend otherwise. [TheYBF] Keep reading »
Five years ago, British mum Deborah Higley had a boob job, increasing her bust from a 32A to a D. Her teen daughters, flat-chested themselves, shared a bedroom and would chat before sleep at night about how they, too, wanted breast implants. This year Deborah arranged for her 19- and 21-year-old daughters, Harriet and Rose, to increase their cup sizes as well — and their father covered the bill for all of this. For reasons completely unknown to me, the Higley ladies and their new bosoms posed together for the U.K.’s Daily Mirror newspaper. Keep reading »
Bored at work? A little horny? Head right on over to Playboy‘s website for a gratuitous boob photo spread on the “Evolution of the Boob”! Playboy dipped into their old photos to show us breasts from the past six decades because, apparently, “boob shape” is as cyclical as fashion. Now, I looked at those mammaries long and hard and I daresay there’s no difference between ’50s boobs or ’80s boobs or ’90s boobs. The only way breasts have “evolved” — if you could even call it that — would be in terms of “pre-breast implants” and “post breast-implants.” But hey, if Playboy‘s foxy Miss November pin-up 1958 reminds men that bleached blond hair, fake nails and giant silicone tatas were not always considered “attractive,” fine with me! “No, I have not had implants. A report like that is about as real and truthful as reports that [my husband] Todd and I are divorcing or that I bought a place in the Hamptons or that [my son] Trigg is not my own child. To be judged on or to be talked about on appearance — say chest size — it makes me wear layers, it makes me have to waste time figuring out what am I going to wear so that nobody will look at an area that I don’t need them to look at. I want them to hear what it is that I’m saying. It just ends up wasting time and that’s very, very unfortunate. I think some of those folks, too, they need to perhaps grab a shovel, go down to the Gulf, volunteer to help, clean up and save a whale or something.”
— Sarah Palin on rumors that she’s had a boob job. You know, I hate to say it, but girlfriend’s got a point … though I find it hard to believe the Caribou Barbie’s really spending that much time thinking of how to dress and present herself in a way that makes people pay more attention to what she’s saying than what she looks like.
