Warriors In Pink Warrior Woven Scarf (Win It!)

Not only does Ford donate $20 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure when you test-drive one of their vehicles from now until Dec. 31, but the car company also sells cute apparel and accessories, with 100 percent of the net proceeds going to to the organization. The Warriors in Pink line includes non-cheesy T-shirts, bright flip-flops, an umbrella with a patterned underside, a Martha Stewart-approved stamping kit, and more. We’re especially fond of the beautiful Warrior Woven Scarf, which we can wear all year long in support of finding a cure for breast cancer. [$38, Warriors in Pink]

We’re giving away one basket filled with Warriors in Pink gear—including the woven scarf, tie, umbrella, flip-flops, T-shirt, stamping kit, and more—but you have to work if you want it. The best commenter for this coming week—from today, Friday, Oct. 16 through Thursday, Oct. 22—will be awarded with the Warriors in Pink basket. So, be as clever, smart, and original as you can! NFL Players Accent Their Uniforms With Pink For Breast Cancer Awareness Month

NFL The Crucial Catch Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign

Yesterday, while watching football, I made a snarky comment about an announcer’s flamboyant shirt-tie combination only to learn he was wearing the baby pink striped tie in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Really?

I was completely floored when I found out the entire NFL is very involved in raising awareness for a disease that rarely affects men. The league even has a campaign, “The Crucial Catch,” advocating annual screenings, especially for women over 40. Throughout October, players, coaches, and referees can choose to wear pink game apparel—from shoes and sweatbands to mouth guards and chin straps—which will be auctioned off, with the money going to the American Cancer Society and team charities. Plus, all players’ helmets have been outfitted with a pink ribbon decal, and fields have been painted with pink ribbon stencils.

Think Pink: Lisa For LOFT Breast Cancer Ribbon Bracelet

Lisa For LOFT Breast Cancer Ribbon Bracelet

A lot of companies promote special “pink” products during October because it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Unfortunately, these items can get a little cheesy—and sometimes they’re just a marketing ploy and don’t actually give a substantial amount of profits to the cause. (Sick, we know.) This month we’ll be highlighting products that are already great on their own, and made even better by the fact that purchasing them results in a respectable donation to a breast cancer organization.

Keep reading to learn about this darling ribbon-accented chain bracelet.

Breast Cancer Awareness Ads From Around The World

As you’re probably aware from the flood of pink that has taken over the world, it’s October, aka Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Don’t think this is some Hallmark-style holiday that only exists in the overly commercialized country we live in. Oh, no. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is worldwide. We poked around the internet a bit and found some awesome ads from other countries supporting the cause. Keep reading to see how the Netherlands, India, and Malaysia promote breast cancer awareness. To Eat Yoplait Yogurt Or Not, That Is The Question

Yoplait yogurt pink lid

Yesterday, we told you that sending in your Yoplait yogurt lids was an easy way to contribute to the fight against breast cancer—at the very least, those pink lids make you think about the disease every day when you eat your breakfast. However, we just want to make it clear that we don’t want you to start downing yogurt like it’s you’re job. Some organizations are against Yoplait’s Save Lids to Save Lives campaign, saying that the company uses milk from cows treated with an artificial growth hormone, which increases their milk production. Breast cancer is a health concern associated with the hormone’s use, but right now there is no clearcut evidence. We think you can decide for yourselves if you want to eat Yoplait, but if you are going to do so, you might as well send in your lids.

Pink Pooch Owner Gets Beauty Schooled

    Pink Poodle

You gotta fight for your right to pink your poodle, or so a woman in Boulder, Colorado learned. Joy Douglas, who owns a local beauty salon, gave her pooch Cici a dye job to match beauty school dropout Frenchy from Grease.  She now faces a $1,000 a day fine for breaking a city ordinance which states that no animals can have their fur dyed. Ms. Douglas claims that she only uses natural coloring like Kool-Aid, technically making her the only person older than 20 to use that DIY-kind of hair color. Alas, she has retained a lawyer to aid her as she makes her case that she did the dye-job to raise awareness about breast cancer. As for the puppy, Douglas told reporters, “Cici will be pink until they kick us out of the city of Boulder.”  [UPI]
