Your ex is your ex for a reason (or many reasons), but there was something redeeming and attractive about this person at one time. After the jump, some women reminisce and share their favorite moments with their exes. Whether from a mountaintop hike, a tropical island getaway or a local romantic occasion, these memories deserve a lasting place in our hearts. They make us secretly smile, regardless of the geographic or emotional distance between us and the exes who were once lucky enough to have our love. Keep reading »
It’s one of those age-old debates—when an engagement is called off
, should the woman return the ring or can she keep it? Last month, a New York judge ordered
a woman to return her rock to her fiance, which she thought was totally unfair because he had cheated and caused her “emotional distress” in the process. Colette DiPierro, 28, of Staten Island, is in a similar position. She is being sued by her ex fiance to give the $17K ring back and will be heading to court soon. But, she claims that she’s keeping the ring as collateral for money he owes her for rent and other bills. Plus, she says, the ring was also a birthday gift. Earlier this week, she headed to “The Wendy Williams Show” to argue her case. Hear what she has to say above. What do you think? Should she be legally forced to return the ring? Keep reading »
Our own “Mind of Man” columnist has argued that couples moving in together is the kiss of death for a relationship. I think he’s crazy — always, always, always move in together before you commit to marriage, trust me! — but there are other real kiss of death moments for couples. Check out “15 Signs You’re Headed For Bed Death,” after the jump. Just don’t be mad at us if you decide to dump your boyfriend as a result. Keep reading »
I was in Brooklyn exactly one block from David’s* apartment with about one hour to spare. I knew what I had to do. I sent a text before I had too much time to think about it: “I’m in your hood. Have an hour to kill. Drink?” I got a queasy feeling in my stomach. It had been almost two years since the last time I’d seen him … Keep reading »
Every week, the gentlemen over at GuySpeak answer women’s relationship questions in guy style. Then they handpick some of their favorites and send them over to us to answer (read: fix) them in girl style. We call it GuySpeak/GirlSpeak. This week — is hooking up the best way to get over someone?
I’ve been told by several people that the best way to get over someone is to hook up with someone else. What do you think?

Amazing! Getting your heart broken does not have to be the worst thing in the world. After ending my most recent relationship last week, I’ve found myself bouncing back in rather good shape, due in no small part to the lessons I learned from having my heart broken once before. The breakup with my fiance over a year ago was the first real huge kick to the stomach I’d ever experienced and it taught me six things that made coping this time so much easier. Keep reading »
I am newly single (again). After a fun, but exhausting, up-and-down five months, my boyfriend-ish-person and I broke up this week. I’m sad about it — I really did fall for him and had so much fun with him. But I’m also a little relieved. The drama was wearing thin. Plus, he hated my clothes. Yeah. My clothes. Keep reading »
Consider, if you will, two breakups:
Bachelor #1, a summer romance, invited me on to his parents’ motor boat. It was the day after we’d slept together for the first time and I thought we were having a lovely date. But this jerk puttered into the middle of Long Island Sound, stopped the boat’s engine, and then, as the boat was rocking back and forth in the waves, dumped me. Then he puttered the boat back to the marina, deposited me on a pier, and left, presumably to get in his car and drive himself home. Shocked doesn’t even begin to describe how I felt! ‘Did he REALLY take me on a boat in the middle of Long Island Sound just to break up with me? What a psycho!’ I said to myself, as I called someone to come pick me up. Keep reading »
So, she dumped you. Sorry! Sometimes women do that sort of thing. Now, you want to know why? Your buddies say: “Who cares!” You want to know anyway. There are many reasons she may have thrown your heart out with the trash, but more likely than not it’s one of the top 10 most common reasons that women dump men. Was it something you said? Was it something you did? Was it all that eating Cheetos in bed? After the jump, find out why she dumped you, but, trust us, the answer isn’t always pretty. Keep reading »
Jesse was too attention-starved. Brendan was too spacey. Darrick was too needy, not to mention a big-time conservative. But for the first few years of my relationship with Chuck, he didn’t seem to have a fatal flaw. Sure, he was allergic to cats, but that hardly seemed like a dealbreaker. It wasn’t until the three-and-a-half year mark that my usual relationship doubts kicked in. Was he too pessimistic for me? Too introverted? Too stuck in his own ways?
When we broke up a few months later, there was no big flame-out or slamming of doors—just the mutual acknowledgment that we were no longer right for each other. Still, I was devastated. After 48 hours of eating the proverbial Haagen-Dazs, I found myself walking the 13 blocks to the ASPCA Adoption Center on New York’s Upper East Side. For the past four years, Chuck’s allergies had barred me from getting a cat. Now I was ready to adopt one—the longer the hair, the better. Keep reading »
