Get Ready For Rachel Zoe And Co.!

I know we’ve said this before, but The Rachel Zoe Project, which premieres tonight at 11 p.m. on Bravo, looks like it’s going to be better than Project Runway and The Hills combined. Please don’t let us down, Bravo. (Doesn’t Rachel’s hubby look über-young? Amelia says he reminds her of Brent Bolthouse.) Keep reading »

The Rachel Zoe Project Is Going To Be Awesome

Since this season’s Project Runway is the last that will air on Bravo, people have been speculating what the network will do to replace its signature show. The answer: The Rachel Zoe Project. The show premieres on September 9. I just watched every single related video BravoTV has on its website and have come to the conclusion that it is going to rock for several reasons… Keep reading »

Wired Magazine: The Difference Between, Um, Us & Covergirl Julia Allison

Hey, do any of you guys read Wired? Do you recognize the cover girl to the left, from Wired‘s August issue? The chick with the Ashley Dupre-esque shoes? If not, here’s the bare essentials: Her name is Julia Allison. She blogs on her own site, XOJulia.com; she’s also a dating columnist with Time Out New York, and, up until recently, was the talking head for Star on various news and entertainment shows. She’s been called “the modern day Carrie Bradshaw” by the New York Times. She recently left Star to pursue her own web venture, NonSociety.com, a site which basically just puts her personal blog (if you go to xojulia.com you’ll be redirected to nonsociety.com) alongside the personal blogs of her partners-in-crime, Mary Rambin (sister to soap star Levin Rambin) a handbag designer and spin instructor, and Meghan Asha, a self-proclaimed tech blogger whose dad is, like, a big deal in Silicon Valley. Rambin blogs about style and nutrition (her knowledge of both is up for debate, but she does wear Chanel flats and gets colonics), while Asha blogs about technology (or at least her perspective on technology — i.e. I am not so sure Bill Gates would consider her a tech blogger). Julia, on the other hand, blogs solely about herself. Which is why she is on the cover of Wired when there are many, many, many, many bloggers out on the interweb worthy of that honor. Because Julia, you see, is a brand. And branding oneself via internet oversharing is the new branding yourself via panty-less table dancing (a la Paris Hilton). Julia, and the validation she has received from Wired, has got us thinking about the whole notion of blogging, its importance in the general tech-o-sphere, and where The Frisky fits in. The Daily Hotness: Matthew Tully from Shear Genius

Yesterday, I attended a promotional event for the second season of the Bravo show Shear Genius – and contestant Matthew Tully gave me a blow-out! It was the best I’ve ever had and while I sat in the chair we chatted about the show. He said that everyone else in the house got along, but he was kind of the outcast. Instantly this made me like him more. Matthew couldn’t reveal the winner of the show, obviously, but my fingers are crossed that it’s him, because everyone else on the show looks catty, like they’d beat you over the head with a flat iron to get to the top. Stylist To The Stars Set To Become One Herself

She has a long list of celebrity clients, a book out, a bitter diva battle with Vogue’s Anna Wintour, and now fashionista Rachel Zoe is about to take on television. The lean, mean stylin’ machine has been criticized for promoting tanorexia [Not to mention anorexia. -- Editor], but now Bravo is going to let you judge her yourself with a serial docu-drama that will watch her every move. “The Rachel Zoe Project” is currently in development at the network and the other characters will include her hubby, Rodger, her two assistants, Taylor and Brad, and some of her celeb clientele. Ladies Love Hot Lesbians

In the past I have said that if I was going to hook up with a woman, she would need to be busty and very womanly because, otherwise, what would be the point? But over the years, the true girl crushes I’ve had (not the “oh my god, isn’t she cool”-girl crushes we write about on The Frisky) have been a lot more masculine than I thought they would be. Like Ellen DeGeneres, who I find very attractive. And the chick who briefly hosted “Queer Eye For The Straight Girl” — I think her name was Honey Labrador or something. Anyway, apparently, I am not alone. The New York Times had an interested article this weekend about how women — from city gals to suburban moms — are totally obsessed with the host of Bravo’s Work Out, Jackie Warner, who’s gay. This makes me happy, mostly because the most mainstream acceptance of lesbianism has been when it’s pornified in Girls Gone Wild videos or at your local bar, where girls make out with each other for the viewing pleasure of men. Well, maybe. The flagship Bravo show has been sold to Lifetime. [DListed] Keep reading »

Romance On TV: Dating A Millionaire Means No Sex

There is something fascinating in seeing how the obscenely rich live. Who hasn’t drooled over the mansions in Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous or obsessed about Tony Hawk’s personal skate park on MTV Cribs? And now, with Bravo’s The Millionaire Matchmaker, you get to see how they date. Or at least how they date on reality TV. The series premiered last week and I’m kind of hooked. Unlike Matched in Manhattan, there’s less take-away advice for the average viewer, because dating a millionaire is not like dating a normal man. Not everyone can date a millionaire, but the requirements aren’t as stringent as you might think. You just can’t be a gold digger, and you can’t be ugly.

In the series premiere, third-generation matchmaker Patti Stanger introduces one of her millionaire clients to one of her rules: No sex until they’re in a committed, exclusive relationship. What would happen if everyone followed this rule (besides less STDs going around)? [BravoTV.com]
