J. Lo and Marc Anthony. Sniff. Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries. Chin wobble. Demi and Ashton, no last names necessary. Sob! So many celebrity breakups this year, it’s almost as if it’s impossible for love to last in Tinseltown. But let’s stop being negative. Plenty of fun, new couples were formed in just the last few months — here’s a look at 12 couples to watch in 2012.

– Bradley Cooper addresses the “controversy” surrounding his being named People’s “Sexiest Man Alive” over Ryan Gosling on “The Graham Norton Show.” I gotta say, even though I don’t believe for a second that Bradley Cooper actually cared that he was awarded such an honor — and I obviously believe Ryan Gosling never wanted it (and, in fact, probably totes turned it down) — I felt kind of bad that the dude couldn’t revel in his sexiness even for a moment. Bradley Cooper as People‘s “Sexiest Man Alive”? As staff at Salon.com put it, “He kind of looks like a dick.” Personally, we think Brad doesn’t hold a candle to Ryan Gosling, our eternal sexiest man alive (and BuzzFeed has 63 reasons why they agree). Salon has been consistently unmoved by People‘s “Sexiest Men” list that they’ve created a counter-list for the past six years in which sexy is defined in terms more intricate than broad shoulders and twinkling eyes. They take into consideration qualities like principles, cultural contributions, talent, and old-fashioned charm — not powerful publicists. I just wanted to take a moment to say that I think it’s really noble of you to turn down People‘s “Sexiest Man Alive” title and let Bradley Cooper have the so-called “honor.” I mean, I can only assume that’s what happened because after a year in which you starred in three big movies (“Crazy Stupid Love,” “Drive,” and “Ides of March”), stopped a street fight over a painting, and inspired numerous internet memes, it just wouldn’t make sense to bestow the title on anyone else. In the past six months, she has been linked to, oh, pretty much all of Hollywood’s most eligible bachelors from Jake Gyllenhaal to Justin Timberlake to Ryan Gosling to Bradley Cooper. Ever since her split from Italian prince Tao Ruspoli in February, every time she so much as looks at a famous guy, the tabloids are ablaze with rumors of her “next fling.” And I just have to call BS. I mean, the woman is insanely gorgeous, newly single, and for sure has an innate Wildeness that brings all the boys to the yard. But in so many of these cases, it seems more like Olivia is just, you know, having a conversation with a friend rather than shamelessly flirting. Depending on how Bradley Cooper and Renee Zellwegger‘s breakup went down, she may think he’s the devil. And it appears that he actually may be—at least onscreen. Cooper is apparently in talks to star as Lucifer in a 3D film version of John Milton’s epic poem, Paradise Lost. The screenplay is being written by Lawrence Kasdan of “Star Wars” fame, and will be directed by Alex Proyas, the director of the original “The Crow.” In a strange twist, Bradley is also rumored to be up for the role in a remake of that one that we don’t quite understand. Let me preface this rant completely rational argument by saying that I don’t actually mind Bradley Cooper. He’s grown on me over the past few years, first with “The Hangover” and then with “Limitless.” He seems to take his craft seriously. He’s not papped every night drunk off his ass with a desperate young starlet clinging to him, lighting cigars with hundred dollar bills. Bradley Cooper may be smearing on some face paint and going dark—very dark—for his next movie. The actor is currently in talks to star in a remake of “The Crow,” the 1994 cult movie based on a comic book of the same name. The premise? A couple is brutally attacked and murdered the day before their Halloween wedding. A year later, the man is brought back to life to exact revenge on the ones who did it. As if the basic plotline weren’t dark enough, the making of the movie itself was tinged with tragedy when star Brandon Lee was killed in an onset accident where a prop gun fired an actual bullet. So I guess I have to ask—why is this movie being remade? It’s been less than 20 years since the original appeared in theaters. When it came out, it was a box office hit that looked pretty spectacular and had a killer soundtrack. Not to mention—who would sign up to star in a remake?
