Further proof that the book publishing industry will give everyone a book deal but people who actually deserve it … Jillian Harris, the most recent “Bachelorette,” will be writing a dating book based on hot dog toppings. You see, Jillian has this little theory that you can tell a lot about a guy based on what he puts on his hot dog. “It’s just sort of a girls guide to how to dissect a guy and how to simply ask what his hot dog topping is and then you decide whether he’s a keeper or not,” Harris told E! Online. “It’ll be short stories about different guys I’ve dated and what you can expect with a sauerkraut guy or a ketchup guy…just something fun.” Yes. Fun. So. Fun. Look At This F**king Book Deal!

Okay, so I know I’ve spent many hours gawking at my favorite feel-good blog, Look At This F**king Hipster, a collection of photos of hipster culture at its most annoying. After living in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and Los Feliz in Los Angeles—both hipster meccas—I know first hand that this blog hits the nail on the head about “overly intentional, overly ironic, overly vapid” culture. There’s something about seeing a dude with a handlebar mustache and waist-length stringy hair in a Furby costume that makes me feel better about my own life. Well, the genius behind the blog has finally decided to reveal his identity. Drumroll…it’s comedian/writer Joe Mande of the Upright Citizens Brigade. His irreverent blog has now scored him a book deal for what I’m thinking could be the funniest coffee table book ever. LATFH The Book—complete with oodles of ridonculous photos—is due out next spring. Woman Gets A Book/Movie Deal From Her Facebook Status Message

When you are a former Dreamworks exec like Lisa Hamilton Day, and have friends in high places, even your Facebook status updates are potential money makers. Lisa posted an update on her page that read, “Lisa Hamilton Day’s Pomeranian raided Chinese takeout bag overnight, opened and ate a fortune cookie. Her fortune: You have strong spiritual powers, and you should develop them.”

Who cares, right? Well, Lisa’s friend Christy Fletcher, who just happens to run an important New York literature agency does. Now, Fletcher has teamed up some other powerful people to do a tween series about a pomeranian named Charlotte. The dog uses its superpowers to save her unemployed owner’s house so they don’t have to move in with the owner’s rents. As far removed as this story line is from the original status update, the deal somehow means that companies have to buy the rights to Lisa’s status message and to her doggie’s life story. So wack. Laura Bush Gets A Book Deal

First lady Laura Bush, who, according to the Associated Press, is “among the most reserved and enigmatic public figures of recent times” just got a book deal! Bush will, with the help of a collaborator, “tell the stories of the extraordinary events and people I’ve met in my life, particularly during my years in the White House.” Hmmm…. Does this mean she’s not going to talk about the car accident she was in as a teenager or any of the really juicy stuff Curtis Sittenfield wrote about in American Wife, her novel inspired by Bush?
