Big, big things are going down on the small screen this week. lt will all, of course, kick off with the season finale of “The Bachelorette,” which you will be watching along with Amelia, right? As the television world order currently stands, Sunday nights are king with the perfect combination of “True Blood” followed by “Mad Men.” But that does not give you permission to turn your set off all the other days of the week. This week, check out a slew of new series—”Growing Up Twisted” (which follows Dee Snider’s family), “Plain Jane” (which takes an unsure-of-herself lady and turns her into a maneater), and “On the Road with Austin and Santino” (starring two of the most dramatic “Project Runway” personalities ever). It might take you another day or so to recover from last night’s slightly traumatic episode of “True Blood.” But when you are ready to turn on the television again, there are lots of exciting programs waiting for you. (And, yes, I am starting a campaign to bring back the word ‘programs.’) For example, the season premieres of “Make It Or Break It” and “Intervention.” And a new sitcom, “Louie,” that looks like it could be on par with “The Office” and “How I Met Your Mother.” And if that doesn’t float your boat, perhaps I could interest you in another delicious serving of “Friday Night Lights?” After the jump, previews, teasers, and more. A kind of annoying thing happens during the summer—TV offerings during the week become abysmal, while a zillion great shows start airing during the weekends. Case in point—I’m bored to tears of weekday shows like “Top Chef” and “So You Think You Can Dance,” and would be into the new series “Boston Med” if hospital dramas didn’t make my eyes glaze over at this point. In the meantime, both “Friday Night Lights” and “Party Down” are on Friday, which is just not the night I’m itching to stay in and curl up on the couch. Just another reason to be thankful for DVR?

OK, yes, I forgot to give you your weekly dose of what to watch yesterday. But have no fear—that had to do with me being lazy on the beach and was not at all a commentary on the television options for the week. Most scripted dramas are over for the season, which means get ready for lots and lots of reality TV. In addition to my new television obsession—”The OCD Project” (Thursdays, 10 p.m., VH1)—we are pumped that Aziz Ansari is hosting Sunday night’s “MTV Movie Awards.” And from the state that brought you “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” and “Jersey Shore” comes a new series called “Jersey Couture,” which premieres tonight on Oxygen.
