James Bond fans, meet your two new Bond girls. Today in London, the cast and crew of “Skyfall,” the name of the 23rd James Bond film, gathered for a press conference and revealed for the first time which women would be distracting the notorious ladies man 007. According to TooFab:
French actress Berenice Marlohe, who stunned in a sexy red dress, will play the glamorous Severine … though, at the moment, not much more is known about her character. Naomie Harris will also star in the film as a field agent named Eve — and Harris revealed she’s been doing yoga, stunt driving and firing machine guns to prepare for the role. We like her already.

We interrupt this blog roll to bring you news of an important new study: A recent Radio Times poll asked men and women to rate their favorite female film icons, and astoundingly, men rated Ursula Andress as Honey Ryder number one, whereas women chose Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly. Judging from the number of “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” posters on teenage girls’ walls, this is hardly a surprise. And what dude isn’t gonna pick a hot Bond chick in a bikini? The guys’ second pick was Sigourney Weaver in “Alien” (interesting), followed by Carrie Fisher in “Star Wars” (of course). Second on the lady list? A tie between Julie Andrews in “The Sound of Music” and “Mary Poppins,” leaving us to go ahead and assume they polled our grandmas. [Daily Mail] Keep reading »
Britain’s most famous secret service agent doesn’t prefer blondes. James Bond is way more likely to bed a brunette, according to a group of researchers who set out to determine what traits 007 liked in his women. The researchers assessed the physical traits of 195 female actresses who had spoken or appeared in two or more scenes in each film from “Dr. No” (1962) to “Die Another Day” (2002)—20 films in total. The team contrasted the characteristics of the 98 Bond Girls who ended up in the spy’s arms with the 97 female characters that weren’t so lucky. “Every Bond film has multiple female characters who variously tempt, distract, and assist James in his latest mission,” said team leader Kimberly Neuendorf, a professor at Cleveland University. “At least one ‘Bond girl’ is particularly striking—a woman with an adventurous nature, cunning attributes, strong potential for romantic entanglement with Bond, and a sense of self-assurance, whose name—Pussy Galore, Honey Ryder, or Holly Goodhead, for example—is as provocative as the character she portrays.” Check out the researchers’ unexpected findings after the jump.
