An Imagined Conversation With This Furry Model

Me: I like your cape.

Model: Thank you.

Me: It’s very Empire Strikes Back.

Model: What is that supposed to mean? Keep reading »

Closet Confessions: Joan Rivers

Joan Rivers is far from your typical style icon. But hey, she’s Joan friggin’ Rivers. So what the hell, Bluefly.com, why not do a Closet Confessions with her? Predictably Joan’s closet is full of old lady jackets — albeit ones by Valentino — and glitzy Vegas costumes. Her daughter Melissa’s closet is similarly boring, but at least the pair has an interesting theory on how they invented the word “vintage.” As with anything Joan Rivers, this Closet Confession is full of pearls of craggy wisdom: “Fashion should always be fun, it should be enjoyed, and if you take yourself too seriously, you’re an idiot. That’s why I hate Victoria Beckham.” Meow! [LiveStream.com] Keep reading »

Bethenny Frankel Exposes Her Skeletons During Closet Confession

Bethenny Frankel isn’t one to withhold juicy details or consider many aspects of her life off-limits for public consumption. So you know her Bluefly Closet Confession was the funniest one thus far. Bethenny still does a mean impression of her former NYC housewives. But we also learned that she has stuff in common with some of The Frisky ladies. She loves a good bargain like Amelia and I, knows an LRD is a must-have, and isn’t afraid to tailor or alter a garment to fit her. Plus, we get a look into baby Bryn’s closet too. The Politically Incorrect Closet Of Johnny Weir: Fur, Fur, A Red Army Soldier’s Hat, And More Fur

It’s hard not to love our gay boyfriend Johnny Weir: not only is this Olympic ice skater confident with who he is, his closet would make Paris Hilton weep. He recently opened his closet up to Bluefly.com — actually, make that his closets. Johnny lives in a two-bedroom apartment in New Jersey with two walk-in closets and one room just for clothes. He’s got a red Army soldier’s hat, a “Martian bubble coat” from Gareth Pugh, Louis Vuitton “millionaire” sunglasses, tons of “long, shiny, pointy shoes” and a Balenciaga tree for bags. Materialistic swoon!

Oh, and Johnny has a message for those PETA activists — “I’m a big fan of fur and I’m sorry if you’re not.” [NYmag.com] Keep reading »

Bluefly “Closet Confessions” Exclusive: Christian Siriano’s Fierceness Is Hereditary

Christian Siriano is the latest subject for Bluefly‘s “Closet Confessions” series, and The Frisky has an exclusive clip in which Mr. Fierce explains how shopping is in his DNA. Also, check out the complete look into Christian’s closet after the jump. Who knew he had such a thing for shiny, sheer tops? He also demonstrates how the fit of a garment is more important than the department in which it is bought. More after the jump! Keep reading »

Are You America’s Next Top Fashion Blogger?

Do you have what it takes to become America’s next top fashion blogger? Bluefly and StyleList are looking for the next big internet sensation, so give it your best shot by entering their America’s Most Stylish Blogger contest. The gig sounds pretty sweet—eight finalists will compete by crafting weekly posts about Bluefly items, and the blogger with the most votes will get a $1,000 Bluefly shopping spree, a special section on the site, plus a weekly column for StyleList (and, we’d imagine, tons of freebies from all over thanks to the exposure).

To enter, fill out the contest form which asks you questions about your blog, style, and fashion rules. But wait …. is “what’s your #1 style rule” a trick question? Are there style rules? Man, this test is hard. [AmericasMostStylishBlogger.com] Keep reading »

Cheapskate: Under $100 At Bluefly

Bluefly is known for selling designer clothes for a lot less, but sometimes the original price is so high that when it’s marked down by the online retailer we still can’t afford it. This doesn’t mean a recessionista can’t find anything at Bluefly. There are many designer articles of clothing, shoes, and accessories sold for less than $100. Check out our favorite cheap finds after the jump.

Let’s Hear It For The Boys (Wear)

Boys have all the fun. Their daily alcohol limit is three units (ours is two) and they get to pee standing up. And now, fashion is playing on the boys’ team, too! Kitsuné’s new collection has a total schoolboy vibe, the Olsens are about to debut a menswear line (and Ashley just did a menswear-clad photoshoot for V magazine), and Rihanna’s been sporting tuxedos on the red carpet. It seems everyone has gone boy crazy, so here’s how to rock the look. Keep reading »

Christian Siriano’s Bluefly Collection: Fierce In A Bad Way

Christian Siriano, last season’s “fierce” winner of Project Runway, is everywhere these days. He’s designed prom dresses for avatars and small collections for Puma, and he’s gearing up to show at New York Fashion week come September. Yesterday, his nine-piece collection for Bluefly, which was part of the PR prize package, went up on the site. For some reason, you can’t buy any of his clothes yet — either that, or they sold out in a day. (They all have a note that says “We’re sorry, this item is not available” next to them.) But as much as I love Christian and all of his hot tranny mess-iness, I don’t think I’d spend almost $400 on this jacket. More photos after the jump… [NY Times, Bluefly] Keep reading »
