When we heard the very sad news that Amy Winehouse had been found dead in her apartment on Saturday, we were a little curious how Blake Fielder-Civil—Winehouse’s ex-husband who she had called the love of her life—would respond. Apparently, he has been in jail since June, serving two years for stealing to get money to buy drugs. Now, Fielder-Civil is on suicide watch at Leeds’ Armley Jail. The incarcerated drug addict reportedly collapsed sobbing when he was informed by prison guards that Winehouse had died. He told the UK’s The Sun newspaper, “I’m beyond inconsolable … my tears won’t dry.” He continued, “I will never ever again feel the love I felt for her. Everybody who knew me and knew Amy knew the depth of our love. I can’t believe she’s dead.”
The ill-fated couple was only married for two years but were involved for much longer; one of their early breakups inspired her album Back To Black. So, who is this man, Blake Fielder-Civil, whom Amy Winehouse called the love of her life? Keep reading »
Amy Winehouse isn’t looking too shabby. Could she actually be on the road to recovery? Two days ago, she finally left St. Lucia after an 8-month long vacation. When she stepped foot back in the U.K., she started crying. It’s not clear if they were tears of joy or misery, but either way, they were coming out of a much healthier looking face. Also, she’s settling her divorce with soon to be ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil! Keep reading »

Here are three things that made me tear up while watching Amy Winehouse’s performance and subsequent win for Record of the Year at this year’s Grammys.
1. Her raw, balls-to-the-wall rendition of her hit “Rehab”. DListed said she looked like she had the “recovering from heroin shakes”, but I thought she was powerful and amazing.
2. When she won her award, she looked dumbfounded as her entire band enveloped her in an celebratory embrace. Then she thanks her “mum and dad” who we all know have been doing their darndest to help Amy recover from her drug problems.
3. The shout-outs she gave to her incarcerated hubby, Blake Fielder-Civil. She says his name with such fury and passion!
That last point made me sort of start to see Amy and Blake as this cute couple, even though trouble seems to follow them (okay, so maybe they invite trouble along for the ride). They seem sort of like soul mates, albeit drug-addicted ones. Can’t they both get their act together and live happily ever after? Or am I being a lil’ Pollyanna? [DListed] Keep reading »
