In Touch did an absolutely terrifying photo spread of the cast of “Dance Moms’” featuring Abby Lee Miller as the black swan. Abby is way, way scarier than Natalie Portman, by the way. The images perfectly convey the dysfunctional nature of the show, which makes me feel so many mixed emotions when I watch: confusion, amusement, outrage … but mostly fear. [In Touch]
“I don’t think I ever fully realized what a human body is capable of doing. But I think I was also, in a beautiful way, incredibly naive. I believed that I could do anything. I never for one moment thought that I couldn’t do it. I believe in hard work. In self-drive and self-worth. I’m a huge foodie, I love food. But when people say, ‘I can’t lose weight’, no no no, you can. Your body can do everything and anything, you just have to want to do it.”
–Mila Kunis, on how she lost weight for “Black Swan.” Kunis also previously said that she was freaked out by the intense weight loss she experienced while training for “Swan.” In November 2010, she said, “It was the most intense training I’ve ever had in my life, and probably will have for anything. I lost 20 pounds, so I went down to 95 pounds. I weigh 117 usually, like today. I looked like Gollum.” She further went on to criticize Hollywood for perpetuating such unrealistic images of beauty. “I could see why this industry is so f*cked up, because … I would literally look at myself in the mirror and I was like, ‘Oh my God!’ I had no shape, no boobs, no ass … all you saw was the bone. I was like, ‘This looks gross.’ Man, it took me five months to lose 20 pounds, but it took me just five days — days! — to gain it all back.” So Kunis no doubt understands that taking off weight, and looking and being healthy are NOT the same thing. When we heard that Sergeant Scott Moore had asked Mila Kunis to attend the Marine Corps. Ball with him this November in North Carolina, we imagined a cute, heartwarming entreaty, in which Moore professes his love and tells Mila how much it would mean to him and the troops. But no, this guy pooped out a sort of cocky 20-second missive that was like, bah-da-bing, let’s do this. And then Fox News told Mila about it over the weekend and she kind of agreed to go with him. Sure, we support our troops, but come on guy, Mila Kunis is one of the most beautiful women in the world. She’s friggin’ Black Swan! Try a little harder! Perhaps some singing and dancing? A little romancing? What do you think? Should Mila take him up on his offer? Keep reading »
Natalie Portman drew raves for dancing like a professional ballerina in “Black Swan.” If it looked impossible, that’s because it was, according to what Sarah Lane, Portman’s dance double, said on ‘Good Morning America’ (weekdays, 7AM on ABC). Lane expanded on her previous statements that she actually performed the more difficult shots in the film, which were credited to Portman.
Although Lane made clear she was never told she would get credit for specific scenes, she accused director Darren Aronofsky of trying to create an exaggerated image of Portman’s dancing work. “They were trying to create this, you know, image, you know, this façade, really, that Natalie had done something extraordinary,” she said. “Something that is pretty much impossible.” Read more… Keep reading »
