We love you, Winona, and you’re killing it in that Dolce & Gabbana dress, even though it’s mid-length and you’re like, five foot two. You don’t have to look so freaked out, girlfriend!

It’s such an honor to be a bridesmaid in your friend’s wedding, but it’s also a heap of stress and expense. A new company aims to take at least some of the annoyance off you, by providing a fun option after the wedding’s over. NewlyMaid.com allows bridesmaids to recycle their old bridesmaids dresses and in exchange, get credit towards one of six styles of black dresses from the Dessy Group (they manufacture dresses for Cynthia Rowley and Lela Rose, among others). There are some conditions — your bridesmaid dress needs to be free of stains, rips, and broken zippers, and depending on the condition of it, you’ll get between 30 and 50 percent off the black dress of your choice. The six dress styles are pretty basic, but we suppose that’s kind of the idea; you get rid of something you’ll never wear again, and in exchange, get a garment that will be a whole lot more useful. Keep in mind, you’ll still be spending around $100 on any of these dresses, even with the discount. So, let us offer another alternative — gye the dress black yourself and get it professionally altered. [NewlyMaid] Keep reading »
Last time I was a bridesmaid, the dress was brown. Not the sort of brown that makes you look like death as you plot ways to get back at the bride after you’ve fulfilled your bridesmaid duties, but just brown and shiny enough that I’ll never wear it again. Given that I spent a couple hundred bucks on the damn thing, I’m obviously none too pleased about the fact that it will sit in my closet forever because I feel guilty throwing it out and un-cute wearing it.
Now, however, it looks like I might get a do-over. My brother is getting married in September and the chances that the bridesmaids dresses will be a flattering and re-wearable black are looking good. His (awesome) fiancée and I checked out a few options the other day, settled on a style, and now I’m just waiting with bated breath for her to decide between black and purple. Keep reading »
Yeah, we know Rihanna’s outfit wasn’t the most important detail of her face-to-face with ex Chris Brown in a Los Angeles courtroom yesterday. But since we already told you Chris took a plea deal, we felt no reason to ignore Rihanna’s stylish outfit, which included about $21,500-worth of vintage jewels. We thought her outfit looked a little old on her — even a fierce side-swept bang over her eye couldn’t up the edge factor — so we found three slightly more youthful black dresses for you, after the jump.
