Cue The Natalie Portman Oscar Buzz

Natalie Portman is gorgeous. And smart. And funny. And forever the quirky girl of every man’s dreams after her Shins-playing role in “Garden State.” And according to early reviews of “Black Swan,” Natalie may soon also be an Oscar winner. The flick premiered last night at the Venice Film Festival, and reviewers’ opinions of the movie as a whole seem to vary. But they all seem to agree that Natalie is amazing as Nina, a ballerina teetering on the edge when her company’s artistic director doesn’t believe she has the depth to play both the White Swan and the Black Swan in a reinterpretation of “Swan Lake” and brings in another dancer for the darker Black Swan part, Lily, played by Mila Kunis. Apparently, Natalie has been talking to director Darren Aronofsky about this part for almost a decade. Keep reading »

Natalie Portman And Benjamin Millepied Do The Opposite Of PDA

I would like to coin the term PDI—public display of indifference. That’s what Natalie Portman and dancer boyfriend Benjamin Millepied, in the white shirt, were doing at the photo call for “Black Swan.” Instead of being photographed as a couple, director Darren Aronofsky stood in between them and slipped his hand around NatPort’s waist. Natalie Portman And Mila Kunis Smooch In The “Black Swan” Trailer

The trailer is out for Natalie Portman‘s new flick, “Black Swan,” about a prima ballerina coming completely unwound. Naturally, the moment in the trailer that has everyone talking is the Natalie and Mila Kunis kiss. We’re over that, but excited by how dark and twisted the flick looks. But should we be surprised? It’s directed by Darren Aronofsky, the man behind “The Wrestler” and “Requiem for a Dream.” The film will premiere at the Venice Film Festival on September 1st, and in theaters in December. Just in time for Christmas, to ruin any daydreams you might have had about the happy ballerinas in “The Nutcracker.” Keep reading »

Natalie Portman, Prima Ballerina In A Rodarte Tutu

Rodarte’s Mulleavy sisters have been involved in some unfriendly press lately over their MAC cosmetics oops, but here’s something nice to offset the bad—a sneak peek at the Rodarte-designed tutus that Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis get to wear in the upcoming flick “Black Swan.” In a nutshell, the movie is a psychological thriller about two ballerinas who get involved in a weird and dark competitive relationship. Can’t tell too much else from this photo, but we’ll be interested to see how Rodarte re-imagines the classic ballet. The movie hits the Venice Film Festival September 1. [Elle] Keep reading »
