Abby Lee Miller Makes A Truly Terrifying Black Swan

In Touch did an absolutely terrifying photo spread of the cast of “Dance Moms’” featuring Abby Lee Miller as the black swan. Abby is way, way scarier than Natalie Portman, by the way. The images perfectly convey the dysfunctional nature of the show, which makes me feel so many mixed emotions when I watch: confusion, amusement, outrage … but mostly fear. [In Touch]

Mila Kunis Says You Can Lose Weight — If You Want To

“I don’t think I ever fully realized what a human body is capable of doing. But I think I was also, in a beautiful way, incredibly naive. I believed that I could do anything. I never for one moment thought that I couldn’t do it. I believe in hard work. In self-drive and self-worth. I’m a huge foodie, I love food. But when people say, ‘I can’t lose weight’, no no no, you can. Your body can do everything and anything, you just have to want to do it.”

Mila Kunis, on how she lost weight for “Black Swan.” Kunis also previously said that she was freaked out by the intense weight loss she experienced while training for “Swan.” In November 2010, she said, “It was the most intense training I’ve ever had in my life, and probably will have for anything. I lost 20 pounds, so I went down to 95 pounds. I weigh 117 usually, like today. I looked like Gollum.” She further went on to criticize Hollywood for perpetuating such unrealistic images of beauty. “I could see why this industry is so f*cked up, because … I would literally look at myself in the mirror and I was like, ‘Oh my God!’ I had no shape, no boobs, no ass … all you saw was the bone. I was like, ‘This looks gross.’ Man, it took me five months to lose 20 pounds, but it took me just five days — days! — to gain it all back.” So Kunis no doubt understands that taking off weight, and looking and being healthy are NOT the same thing. Right Mila? Right? [Dlisted] Keep reading »

Morning Quickies: Lindsay Lohan Should Have Been In “Black Swan,” Says Lindsay Lohan

  • Lindsay Lohan is upset she was not considered for “Black Swan” because she studied ballet until she was 19, writer Jacquelynn Powers claims in a piece she wrote about the actress for Plum Miami Magazine. LiLo would have been a baller Black Swan, you have to admit. Powers also wrote that LiLo was “constantly looking for drama, whether it was picking a fight with her younger sister … or freaking out over a lost pair of Zanotti heels.” That’s our girl. Should Mila Kunis Go Out With This Marine?

When we heard that Sergeant Scott Moore had asked Mila Kunis to attend the Marine Corps. Ball with him this November in North Carolina, we imagined a cute, heartwarming entreaty, in which Moore professes his love and tells Mila how much it would mean to him and the troops. But no, this guy pooped out a sort of cocky 20-second missive that was like, bah-da-bing, let’s do this. And then Fox News told Mila about it over the weekend and she kind of agreed to go with him. Sure, we support our troops, but come on guy, Mila Kunis is one of the most beautiful women in the world. She’s friggin’ Black Swan! Try a little harder! Perhaps some singing and dancing? A little romancing? What do you think? Should Mila take him up on his offer? Keep reading »

Natalie Portman’s “Black Swan” Dance Double Continues To Speak Out

Natalie Portman drew raves for dancing like a professional ballerina in “Black Swan.” If it looked impossible, that’s because it was, according to what Sarah Lane, Portman’s dance double, said on ‘Good Morning America’ (weekdays, 7AM on ABC). Lane expanded on her previous statements that she actually performed the more difficult shots in the film, which were credited to Portman.

Although Lane made clear she was never told she would get credit for specific scenes, she accused director Darren Aronofsky of trying to create an exaggerated image of Portman’s dancing work. “They were trying to create this, you know, image, you know, this façade, really, that Natalie had done something extraordinary,” she said. “Something that is pretty much impossible.” Read more… Keep reading »

Mila Kunis Says Natalie Portman Did Do The Dancing In “Black Swan”

“Natalie danced her a** off. I think it’s unfortunate that this is coming out and taking attention away from what Natalie deserved and got. She’ll tell you, no, she was not on pointe when she did a fouetté. No one’s going to deny that. But she did do every ounce of every one of her dances. [Lane] wasn’t used for everything. It was more like a safety net. If Nat wasn’t able to do something, you’d have a safety net. The same thing that I had — I had a double as a safety net. We all did. No one ever denied it.”

Mila Kunis responds to the allegation made by ballerina Sarah Lane, Natalie Portman‘s body double in “Black Swan,” that she did the bulk of Natalie’s dancing in the movie and was told to keep quiet about it. Funny how the story back in the fall was Natalie and Mila dancing their a**es off, literally. [EW] Keep reading »

Dancer Claims She Doubled For Natalie Portman In “Black Swan,” Was Asked To Keep Quiet

Natalie Portman has been called many things over the past few months: superstar, A-lister, Oscar winner. But today she is being called something else: big, fat, dirty liar.

Okay, maybe not big or fat, but the dance community is certainly unhappy with Portman, as the latest issue of Dance Magazine contains allegations from Portman’s dancing double on “Black Swan” that Portman didn’t actually do the legwork in her Oscar winning performance.

And that Oscar backlash should be hitting right about … now. Read more… Keep reading »

Oscar Theory #10: The Academy Loves A Crazy Female Character

I’m not sure exactly how time is passing so quickly, but we are now only nine days away from the Oscars. To be clear—that’s one week and two days. As the big day creeps closer and closer, people seem to be feeling more confident that Natalie Portman will win Best Actress for her ballerina-gone-loco turn in “Black Swan.” Why? Well, because she won both the Golden Globe and the SAG awards for the role. Also, she’s pregnant and that often bodes well for Oscar contenders. Plus, as Newsweek so delicately put it in headline a few weeks ago: “Want to Win an Oscar? Play a Crazy Chick.”

Last week, we looked at a theory—that the Academy favors actors who take on real life roles—that could predict who will win for Best Actor this year. Today, let’s look at the off-their-rocker roles that have garnered Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress wins. Keep reading »
