Frisky Rant: Is The Male Lesbian Fantasy Messing With Women’s Sexuality?

With the proliferation of straight girl-on-girl action being popularized in the media — from “Girls Gone Wild” and Miley Cyrus’ sleepover kiss, to Katy Perry’s hit “I Kissed A Girl” and super-babe Megan Fox admitting she had a girlfriend — there has been a great change in the way female sexual orientation is perceived. It has become more of an open spectrum than a box. There is a clear upside to straight women making out with another woman without anyone batting an eyelash — we should all be free to do what and who we feel without judgment. However, Details magazine has tried to explain the downside. In the article, “Flirting With Disaster,” men recount how their lesbian fantasies became an obsession that turned into a variety of devastating scenarios. From the guy who pressured his girlfriend to the point that she felt violated, to a guy whose threesome dirty talk made his wife realize she was gay, sometimes taking a chance that seems irresistible can bring about the downfall of a relationship. However, the real problem here is that men often feel like they are responsible for and therefore dominate the desires and sexual expression of both people in a relationship.

Girl Talk: Dating A Bi-Guy

Emotional cripples. Religious zealots. Man-babies. My recent dating roster could serve as a police lineup of degenerates, liars, and serious letdowns. Naturally, I’m hypersensitive to red flags these days. So when a guy I’m interested in tells me that he’s a “bisexual,” shouldn’t I run? Perhaps. But once I got the initial panic out of the way (OK, I called my friend and frantically yelled, “911! 911!”), I let his confession marinate. Then I decided I’m not going anywhere. Or, if I do, it’ll have nothing to do with his half-gayness.

TV Is Coming Out Like Clay Aiken

Network TV has got almost as many gay characters as Marc Jacobs’ Rolodex. Just last year, there were only seven homosexuals and bisexuals on the boob tube, but this year that number has more than doubled to 16. GLAAD is certainly happy to announce the awesome news and even single out an old foe. The sharp increase is thanks, in part, to Fox, who not only finally put one gay character on a series, they put a whopping FIVE! Still, all this good news comes with a new glass ceiling. While gay men seem to be making head way (no pun intended), there are no lesbian characters on the major networks — just bisexual women. One small step for man, but when is there going to be a jump for womankind? Sigh…will someone please cast Portia Di Rossi to play gay already?! [USA Today via Fark] Keep reading »

Documentary Suggests All Women Are Gay

We’ve all heard sexuality is a spectrum and that there is a sliding scale of gay and straight. While this has been the accepted perception, new evidence has come out that all women are gay. According to Dr. Meredith Chivers’ documentary entitled Bi the Way (trailer is above), pictures of naked men do nothing for the blood flow to women’s crotches. While we could argue with that those kinds of photos inspire the manual stimulation that gets the blood flowing, Dr. Chivers found that just the sight of naked chicks in action worked on both straight men and women. This may explain the glut of girl-on-girl action from college co-eds on LastNightsParty.com to Angelina Jolie and Clint Eastwood’s wife. Faux-lesbos are for real! [New York Times] Keep reading »

Bette Davis vs. Joan Crawford: The Truth About Their Catfight

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Especially when the bitch is Joan Crawford! That crazy drama mama supposedly had her way with everyone from her producers to Marilyn Monroe, but when Bette Davis passed on Crawford’s bisexual advances, the legendary bitter battle supposedly began. The truth is out! According to a new book, when Davis had a crush on one of her other Dangerous co-stars, Crawford set out to bone Franchot Tone first. She invited him over to her place and when he arrived, she was tanning in her solarium naked, and he didn’t leave until well after dark. Of the man stealing, Crawford recounted, “Franchot isn’t interested in Bette, but I wouldn’t mind giving her a poke if I was in the right mood. Wouldn’t that be funny?” Although, Bette won her first Oscar for the 1935 film, she lost Franchot, who became Joan’s second husband. From then on, they literally beat each other, every chance they got. Now, both have passed on, but somewhere in heaven you know the cat fight continues. [Daily Mail] Keep reading »
