7 Supposed Signs Your Man Is On The Down Low

Down Low men keep their bisexual behavior a secret from their female partners because they’re uncomfortable with homosexuality and are afraid of the negative consequences of coming out. They don’t want to be judged, ostracized, or have their masculinity questioned. J.L. King, a self-professed former down low man, gives signs a man might be on the down low in his book, On the Down Low: A Journey into the Lives of Straight Black Men Who Sleep with Men. But what I found bothersome is that a few of his signs seem to reinforce homophobic stereotypes, which might only encourage prejudice. In addition, the generalities of some of these “signs” could lead to paranoia in a relationship, which isn’t healthy either, especially if it’s, uh, unfounded. It’s true that women need to protect themselves from unsafe behaviors and men that put their health at risk — and that’s true of cheating in general — but I’m not so sure believing stereotypes is a step in the right direction. Dear Wendy: “My Internet Boyfriend Is A Bisexual Cross-Dresser”

I’m dating a guy I met on the internet. We have never met but we text all day, and every night we talk on the phone and so far it’s been great. He’s really nice, very attentive and we have even said ‘I love you.’ But the problem is that he is bisexual and cross-dresses a few times a month. I’m kind of confused, but at least he is honest — we have talked about it and he has tried to calm me down and explain it to me. But I’m actually scared and I don’t know if I should run or accept him for who he is, have fun with the situation, and trust that he is going to be faithful and that he really loves me, because at the end of the day he is nicer than most guys I have dated. I really don’t know what to do, and I have to decide fast because he is coming to see me soon. Should I run? Do bi guys cross-dress or is that something only gay guys do? — Internet Girlfriend

Quote of the Day: Evan Rachel Wood Says All Vampires Are Bisexual

“She’s not necessarily a lesbian. [...] Her human partner is a girl, but I’m pretty sure she goes both ways [laughs]. I think vampires are like that in general.”

Do You Have Bisexual Tendencies?

Watching “The Real World: Cancun” makes me feel old for multiple reasons.

1. I am five years too old to actually be cast on the show.
2. It’s so insanely vapid that I cannot actually watch a full episode, which says a lot considering I can stomach an entire marathon of “Keeping Up With The Kardashians.”
3. Every single girl in the cast seems to be bisexual.

Why does point three make me feel old? Well, I think I just missed the boat on the bisexuality trend. Hear me out. I believe sexuality is a spectrum and where we fall on that spectrum when we’re born and how our sexuality evolves as a result of societal influence depends on the person. I also don’t think it’s relevant whether a person is gay, straight or bi, whether they were born that way or “chose” that “lifestyle,” as I don’t think what goes on in a person’s bedroom or romantic life is anyone’s business.

My Computer Made Me Gay

“I see an exciting adventure in your future, a new sexual experience that forever changes you,” she said, tracing the sole of my foot with one soft fingertip. Her husband grinned at me from the bed. I sat half-naked in the overstuffed armchair and trembled with nerves.

This is not how I’d imagined my first — or any — threesome. I’m not bisexual, and I can count the number of times I’ve been physically attracted to a woman on one hand, with two fingers left over. Keep reading »

Girls Kissing Girls: A “Disturbing New Trend”

In what must surely be the slowest of news days, the Daily Mail brings us an article today shedding light on the “disturbing” trend of girls kissing girls. Perhaps you’ve heard of this before? According to the article, same-sex kisses among teen girls has practically become a rite of passage ever since that shared kiss between Madonna and Britney Spears at the 2003 MTV Video Awards. “More than anything, the kiss gave the veneer of acceptance to what would previously have been considered unacceptably risque public behavior, and made a particular type of lipstick lesbianism almost fashionable.” Funny, I went to college years before that infamous kiss and girl-on-girl smoochin’ was “an almost fashionable rite of passage” back then. Would You Date A Guy Who’s Bi?

I may be generalizing, but most guys are pretty into the idea of dating a girl who’s bisexual. Because, though it may never actually happen, you know that if your girlfriend likes chicks, there’s the potential there for not only some girl-on-girl action, but also possibly, some day, a threesome, that holy grail of male sexual experiences.

But what about the reverse? Are women into dating bisexual men? Totally impartial? Turned off? Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with bisexuality, but always have had the nagging feeling that being bi is basically just a pit stop on the road to gay. (Gay, for the record, is also a fine place, but not a place I’d want my boyfriend to wind up.)

Hot Right Now: Male Bisexuality

Frisky contributor Rachel Kramer Bussel has a fantastic piece up on the Daily Beast about men feigning bisexuality for attention. From Brody Jenner’s “Bromance” and Paul Rudd’s “I Love You, Man” to Business Insider headlines quipping about Warren Buffett’s man-crush, being kinda gay is the latest dude trend — so long as you’re straight, that is. Doin’ It With Dr. V: I Kissed A Girl And I Liked It!

Hi, I’m Dr. V. I’m not a real doctor, I just play one on the Internet. What I am is a lady, a lady who is a fool for love! And I love nothing more than sex. My deepest desires have happily lead me on many adventures in the sack, but they have also, sadly, made me one of my gyno’s most valuable players. But I’ve lived to tell the tale(s)! So, from time to time, I will dish the dirt on everything from getting freaky to getting freaked out. Now, let’s get this party started…

This week’s “Doin’ It With Dr. V” was inspired by a bunch of letters I received from straight gals who have been fantasizing about sexy times with other women. Some wonder how normal it is, some wonder if it’s just a phase, some wonder if they’re just bored. But no matter what the reason is, there’s only one thing to do. You should indulge yourself — I certainly have! So here’s my advice on lovin’ a lady based on my experience. As for the rest of you, keep those letters coming. You know I just love to read your smut too! To send me a question or suggest a topic for a future “Doin’ It With Dr. V,” email me!
