“The fact is, these are actors playing parts, and maybe it’s not such a bad thing that people be reminded of that. Both of these actors gave heart and soul to the ‘Twilight’ movies, not only during shooting, but also by navigating so graciously the whole life-in-a-fishbowl aspect of the phenomenon. Above all they have always shown great respect for the fans who made these movies such a success. Now it’s time that some of that respect be returned to them.”

I know everyone is all ARGH SO OVER the Robsten breakup, but I couldn’t help but have my attention held just a millisecond longer by this quote from “Breaking Dawn” director Bill Condon. It sounds like the director is saying they are a real couple and fans/the media need to lay off them during this difficult time. Though I’m not really sure the way to get respect for your private life is to issue a public statement about cheating. [Crushable via Entertainment Weekly] [Photo: Getty]

“I don’t know about “role model.” But I do think she’s an incredibly strong female character, who has a sense of what she wants, and what’s right, and goes after it. I find her extremely heroic in this movie, because she is thinking about sacrificing any kind of sense of safety in the service of something that she thinks of as more important than herself. But that’s just the physical thing she goes through. And then in the second part of it, when she turns into a fierce kind of warrior vampire goddess. It’s an extraordinary kind of journey for this character who started out in such an ordinary way.”

Bill Condon, who directed “Breaking Dawn: Part 1,” answers the age-old question about whether Bella is “good” or “bad” for women. Look, I’m as interested in depictions of women in pop culture as the next feminist. There’s no question that these narratives influence us to varying degrees. With that being said… Keep reading »

Quotable: Bill Condon Breaks Dawn With A Letter To “Twilight” Fans

“Greetings Twihards, Twifans, Twilight Moms, Team Edward, Team Jacob, and Team Switzerland,

I’m stoked to be getting underway on the adventure of making ‘Breaking Dawn.’ I’m pretty busy bringing myself up to speed on what you already know by heart: I’ve read ‘Breaking Dawn’ twice, rewatched Catherine’s and Chris’s movies 2-3 times each, have all four CDs playing in my car, and have Catherine’s notebook, Mark Cotta Vaz’s companion books, and even Volume 1 of the graphic novel here on my desk—a corner of my office is starting to look like Hot Topic … A guy’s gotta start somewhere … Please feel free to ask questions in the comments section below, and I’ll do my best to answer them. P.S. Answer #1: No, there won’t be any musical numbers.”
