Sweet Release: What’s In And Out The Week Of November 19th 2008

MUSIC

  • Beyoncé I Am…Sasha Fierce
With this two disc release, Beyonce is all about fantasizing. She’s been slipping on her gling and calling herself Sasha Fierce. The first disc she’s still Beyonce, imagining what she’d do “If I Were A Boy.” Yet she’s got something to say to the gents, “If you like it, you should put a ring on it.” Hm, wonder if that’s the line she used on Jay-Z? But truly, the Queen B is going deeper on her record. Soft songs like “That’s Why You’re Beautiful” are atypical for the happenin’ hit maker, but they beautifully subtle, for once. As Sasha Fierce, on disc two, she throws the dance floor some bones with hot tracks like “Diva” and “Radio.” There’s something for everyone, from club bumpin’ “Say My Name”-esque booty jams to adult laments.

Star Couplings: Britney Spears To Tell All In MTV Documentary

  • There are three previews out for Britney Spears’ MTV documentary which airs November 30. Above is one of them and Perez Hilton has got the rest. Is Britney really going to explain what the hell was going out during her bizarre meltdown period? [Perez Hilton]
  • According to Us Weekly, she confesses in the doc, “I think it’s too in control. If I wasn’t under the restraints I’m under, I’d feel so liberated. When I tell them the way I feel, it’s like they hear, but they’re really not listening. If you do something wrong in your work, you can move on, but I’m having to pay for a long time. I never wanted to become one of those prisoner people. I always wanted to feel free.” Aww hell, FREE BRITNEY! [Us Weekly]

Face Off: Beyonce Vs. Sasha Fierce

At first, we thought Beyonce was a little crazy for developing her alter ego Sasha Fierce, but you know what? Sasha has really grown on us, especially since we’ve spent the last eight hours listening to I Am…Sasha Fierce on repeat. She’s sexy and outgoing and has the sickest body we’ve seen in a while. Beyonce and Sasha obviously have similarities, but when you really start to analyze their personas, you realize that they have quite a few differences. More after the jump. Keep reading »

What’s Up With Beyonce’s Bionic Hand?

Beyonce has been promoting her multiple-personality album I Am…Sasha Fierce, which will be released tomorrow, and in at least three recent performances — the World Music Awards, the MTV Europe Music Awards, and “Saturday Night Live” — she has worn a piece of jewelry that resembles the hand of a robot. Upon closer inspection, you’ll notice that the glove is basically a full-hand ring. At first, we thought Beyonce was wearing her special glove whenever she performed as Sasha Fierce, her sassier alter-ego, but this theory doesn’t pan out because she wore the hand when she performed “If I Were A Boy,” which is on the Beyonce part of the album. The accessory, which we’re calling a “gling” (glove ring), was designed by Lorraine Schwartz, who also created Beyonce’s $5-million, 18-carat diamond wedding ring. Seeing as Schwartz’s designs cost a pretty penny, maybe Beyonce is wearing the gling non-stop because she wants to get her money’s worth. Either that or she’s just one of the first to sport finger-surrounding rings — Vogue Italia featured several in a recent story, and Selma Blair wore one shaped like a snake this weekend. Paul Rudd, Beyonce, & Justin Timberlake Show Up For The Gayest “SNL” Ever

Last night’s episode of “Saturday Night Live” was the gayest in the show’s history. From man-on-man kissing skits to Justin Timberlake appearing as a unitard-clad dancer in a Beyonce video shoot (see clip above), “SNL” seemed to be saying, “Gay community, we love you.” Now doesn’t JT have nice stems?

Then Beyonce went and put on this weird bionic hand glove and performed the HELL out of “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)”, doing nearly the entire “Mexican Breakfast” dance routine. Clip of THAT after the jump… Keep reading »

Quote Of The Day: Beyonce Has A Smart Outlook On Marriage

“I really don’t believe that you will love the same thing when you’re 20 as you do at 30. So that was my rule: Before the age of 25, I would never get married…. I feel like you have to get to know yourself, know what you want, spend some time by yourself and be proud of who you are before you can share that with someone else.” — Beyonce in the December issue of Seventeen Keep reading »
