Beyoncé sang the national anthem at the 2004 Super Bowl, but she has yet to perform at the iconic halftime show—until 2013, according to an AP source who says she’s slated to take the stage this time around. An official announcement is expected tomorrow. This season’s Super Bowl will be held Feb. 3 in New Orleans, the city’s first championship game since Hurricane Katrina. The AP speculates that Beyoncé could collaborate with husband Jay-Z or her Destiny’s Child bandmates. Read more…
Beyoncé Knowles aka Mrs. Jay-Z has dropped out of Clint Eastwood’shighly anticipated remake of “A Star Is Born” – is Bey maybe unavailable because she’s pregnant and is worried about her own little star being born? Beyoncé even went so far as to issue a statement saying: “For months we tried to coordinate our schedules to bring this remake to life but it was just not possible. Hopefully in the future we will get a chance to work together.”
Hmm… The movie doesn’t even have a male lead cast or a start date, so how can she surmise that she’s got a conflict of interest? I think something else is brewing… Otherwise, what is Beyoncé thinking dropping an opportunity like this? Read more…
Looks like Matthew McConaughey is the latest in a long line of celebs to drop a pretty shocking amount of weight for a role. In recent days McConaughey has been spotted around Austin looking downright frail after losing at least 30 pounds on a liquids-only diet to prep for a movie called “The Dallas Buyers Club.” As the actor recently explained to Larry King: “It takes a while for your body to understand that it has to feed off of itself and that you’re not going to give it something else from the outside.” Damn. Suddenly we really want a donut.
So, what other celebs have gone to dieting extremes for the sake of their craft? Who lost the most? How did they do it? Check out our gallery to find out! [Huffington Post]
I’m a lucky girl. Over the last, oh, 10 days, I think I’ve said, “This is the best day of my life!” at least a handful of times. First, when Wil Wheaton posted a link to my essay on writing “Star Trek” fanfic on his blog and said it was “fantastic.” Then again, when I went to an event featuring Cheryl Strayed, author of Tiny Beautiful Things and Wild. And again, when I went to hear Zadie Smith read from her new book, NW. Friday was another best day ever, as I had two psychic readings, both of which promised similar blessings ahead.
Saturday was the latest in this string of awesomely memorable days, because I went to see Jay-Z perform at Barclays Center (where his Brooklyn Nets will be playing). I’m already a longtime Jay-Z fan, but I was especially psyched because I had a gut feeling that if there was going to be a night when wife Beyonce would get up on stage with him, it would be this one, because A) it was the final night and B) the show was streaming live online. Turns out, my gut was right. Keep reading »
Beyonce is awesome, yeah, yeah, but I happen to have a way bigger girl crush on her younger sister Solange. I loved her album Sol-Angel and the Hadley Street Dreams, but it didn’t get nearly as much attention as, say, Beyonce’s last outfit change. A shame, really. Well, Solange is back with a new song called “Losing You,” and it was so worth the wait. The song’s smooth, alt-pop airiness perfectly showcases Solange’s vocals, while the video, featuring Solange and her friends hanging out with Cape Town’s Gentleman of Baconogo, is just straight up stylish. I still love you Beyonce, but damn if it isn’t time for Solange to get her due.
