Beyoncé and her hubby Jay-Z were heading to Harrods department store in London earlier this week for a mini shopping spree. As Beyoncé was about to step out of their Mercedes, her car door was ripped off at its hinges by a taxi speeding by. The cab missed Beyoncé by only a couple of inches. And thank goodness! Nobody runs over Sasha Fierce! Needless to say, she and Jigga never made it to Harrods. Add the not-so-single lady to the list of celebs who’ve cheated death. [Fox411] Keep reading »
They’re baaaaack! Remember the little girls who did that super amazing but sorta sexy dance to Beyonce’s “Single Ladies,”
and people went nuts over whether it was appropriate or not? Well, their parents hit the morning shows last week saying the dance performance (posted on YouTube) was “taken out of context.” However, it turns out that that was not the first time that gang of 7-year-olds donned sparkly tube tops and popped their booties on stage. Behold, the sexiest take on “My Boyfriend’s Back” that I’ve ever heard/seen. Look, the sucky thing about this “scandal” is that it’s detracting from the fact that these girls are amazzzzing
dancers, so skilled at such a young age that if they were to continue their studies, they could seriously go on to professional careers. And some might argue, myself included, that the over-the-top sexiness of some of the moves (and the costumes) are not only inappropriate for their age but distracting from their talent as well. What do you think? [PopEater

Beyonce and mom Tina Knowles are bringing their luxe style to a department store near you. Their home decor lines, House of Dereon and Dereon, feature bedding influenced by Europe, bohemian chic, and dressmaking. Both lines will offer sheet sets, coverlets, comforters, pillow shams, and decorative pillows, but the embroidery-oriented House of Dereon caters to the more adult and sophisticated consumer, whereas the more print-oriented Dereon collection is for the 15 to 30 year olds. Think of it this way: House of Dereon is for the master bedroom and Dereon is for student or recent grad’s bedroom.

I took dance lessons when I was a kid. I wasn’t very good, and looking back at the Sears Portrait Studio-style snapshots of me, all gussied up in my sequins and garish makeup, I realize I looked pretty ridiculous too. I — and the rest of my jazz dance class — were never ever as, um, advanced
as the little 7-year-olds performing Beyonce’s “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” in the video above. I want to be clear: these gals can dance
. They’ve got the moves. But, like, isn’t this song a little weird for children to be dancing to? They’re doing some of the original Bob Fosse moves, but the rest of it is full of gyrating and rather stripper-y. And what’s up with the bordello crop tops and panties? Oy. Keep reading »
I told you my opinion
of Beyonce’s “Why Don’t You Love Me?” video based on the preview she released over the weekend. And I have to admit I was only half right. She’s definitely scantily clad, but the video is extremely entertaining. The “Why Don’t You Love Me?” video is like candy for the eyes — there’s something to look at everywhere, but the imagery isn’t overloaded. Plus, Bey’s body is perfect for mid-20th century clothing. I also enjoyed her campy-on-purpose acting. Nyom, nyom, nyom, that’s me eating my words. Keep reading »
Is this a nod to the home turf of her hubby, Jay-Z, who’s from the borough and bought the New Jersey Nets specifically to bring them back to BK? [NYC, 5/2/10] Keep reading »
“Why Don’t You Love Me” – Sneak Peek from Beyonce on Vimeo.
Beyonce released a preview for her “Why Don’t You Love Me” video this weekend. The song is a bonus track on I Am … Sasha Fierce (Deluxe Version). It seems Bey enjoyed her Bettie Page look in the “Video Phone” video because she took another nostalgic turn as Rosie the Riveter. But this time Rosie has shed her factory uniform for Daisy Duke shorts, thigh-high stockings, and a midriff-baring shirt — you know, the same sexy garb we’re used to seeing Beyonce wear. From the preview, it looks as if this will be another video full of beauty shots of Beyonce’s heavily made-up face, butt, and boobs. Which is kind of disappointing because I think the concept of Rosie the Riveter as a homemaker doing the male and female chores could have been really entertaining — especially since the cinematography, lighting, and setting are so beautiful — instead of what I expect will be campy soft-core porn and a lot of mesmerizing gyration. Who does a pop diva turn to for new fashions after being outfitted by Thierry Mugler? If you’re Beyonce, then Victoria Beckham is the answer. Reportedly, Jay-Z’s little lady is so impressed with Posh’s fashion sense and newest collection, that she called her up and asked the singer turned designer to create new costumes for an upcoming concert. Now, during Beyonce’s last tour, there were enough body suits, glitter, and bling to make Liberace happy, but her look might be a bit toned down this time around given Posh’s design sensibility. Since she’s known for her form fitting dresses and long gowns, we’re assuming Beyonce’s going for a bit of a classier, uptown girl vibe. She is a married lady after all. [Mirror] Keep reading »
Shapewear: we used to call them granny panties. And maybe you still do (granny-chic is in now, anyhow), but tummy-tucking undies are no longer for the geriatric set. We’ve seen the signs coming for a while—first with the Spanx explosion (or implosion, if you will), and then with the underwear-as-outerwear trend that began coming down the runways. Now, reports WWD, the shapewear market is experiencing a huge rebirth, citing a growth in retail sales of over 10 percent in the last year. The real reason behind the fad? Celebrity fans (duh), but more specifically, Rihanna with her metallic corset costume, Beyoncé‘s gold bodysuits from her latest tour, and Lady Gaga‘s … well, Lady Gaga’s everything.
So, what about you? Have you been eschewing your lacy thongs for full-coverage knickers? [WWD] Keep reading »
