Oh Beyonce! Why Are You Hanging With Terry Richardson?

Bey, we’re kind of disappointed. We tend to think you “run the world,” so when we saw this pic with Terry Richardson we were a bit dismayed. In case you didn’t know, Bey, Richardson is a noted model fondler and generally creepy dude, who thinks nothing of getting a bit too up close and personal with the girls he shoots. In fact, several models have spoken out against his unprofessional and lecherous behavior.

So, Bey, what gives? You’re pretty much the biggest star in the world, so I’m sure you wield enough power to tell Harper’s Bazaar – for whom Terry shot you — that you’d prefer to work with another photographer. Ah well, there’s always next time. [Fashionista]

Beyonce Forces A Fan To Sing

Ahh, this poor woman, just tryin’ to enjoy a Beyonce concert, when Beyonce herself comes over and shoves the mic in her face, expecting her to sing. “No, Beyonce! No, Beyonce!” she begs, to no avail. And then we — and Beyonce — understand why. I’m howling with empathy because this is exactly what I would sound like. [The Daily What]

Beyonce’s “Love On Top” Video Is Hardly A New Edition

First of all, does Beyonce release a new music video every week? Just last week, she debuted the video for “Countdown,” yet this week, she has a new video for the song “Love On Top” — what happened to building suspense? Anyway, Beyonce can’t do anything without paying homage to someone, and this video is no different. Her inspiration comes from a somewhat unlikely place — ’80s boy band New Edition, which was of course fronted by a wee Bobby Brown. “Love On Top” is directly inspired by their video for “If It Isn’t Love,” from the setting (a sun-lit loft space!) to the dance moves. Somewhere out there Whitney Houston is saying “Oh, hell to the no!”

I have been kind of bored by Lucky ever since they got a new Editor-in-Chief, but the November issue actually left me satisfied. There seemed to be more affordable clothes and accessories than usual, I enjoyed the feature on layering, and, HELL YES, Solange Knowles was featured as the month’s “Lucky Girl.” Solange, of course, is Beyonce’s younger sister — or as Dlisted calls her, “Basement Baby” — but ever since our girl Annika introduced me to her awesomeness, I have considered her to be the most stylish Knowles. Case in point: in the Lucky photo, Solange has done her braids up like Janet Jackson in “Poetic Justice,” a movie I loved back in the day (it also stars Tupac!) and am now going to Netflix immediately. Solange, lookin’ good, girl. [Lucky: Tumblr]

Photoshop Fail: The Case Of Beyonce’s Disappearing Legs

My friends and I have always loved Beyonce’s figure — and specifically her thighs — because she has more of a real body than most super stick-thin celebs. We call her legs tree trunk legs because they’re muscular as hell. You’d figure all that dancing and bootyshaking she does means her stems are pretty strong. So why in the crap did Harper’s Bazaar make her legs up and disappear? They seem to have been whittled down into two insignificant toothpicks.

Beyonce in Harper's Bazaar

“[Jay and I] have been together since I was 20 years old … We took our time and developed an unbreakable friendship before we got married. We focused three years on our marriage and found that it brought us an even stronger bond and connection. But like anything great and successful in your life, marriage takes hard work and sacrifice. It has to be something both you and your husband deeply want. The best thing about marriage is the amount of growth you have because you can no longer hide from your fears and insecurities. There’s someone right there calling you out on your flaws and building you up when you need the support. If you are with the right person, it brings out the best version of you.”

– Beyoncé in Harper’s Bazaar. When she actually decides to say something about her relationship, it’s well worth the wait. I love the idea of marriage as a growth enterprise. Thinking about how you and the other person can help each other be the best versions of yourself is an empowering way to approach the institution. [Harper's Bazaar]

Did Beyonce’s Baby Bump Just Fold In Half?

Beyonce Preggers

Here’s what you need to know: some people out there think Beyonce’s pregnancy is a fake one and that she’s walking around with a prosthetic bump. Why? I haven’t been able to figure out what the motivation would be. Anyway, those Babyonce naysayers produced this screenshot as evidence. Beyonce appeared on “Sunday Night HD” and as she took a seat, her belly appeared to, well, kind of collapse and fold in half. I don’t know much about pregnancy, but I don’t think baby bumps do that. Personally, I think this whole theory is kind of hilarious and I like to think it’s somehow connected to the Illuminati because HOW FUN! You can see video and more screengrabs at the link. [Dlisted]

Last week, when we oohed and ahhed over the awesomeness that is Beyonce’s video for “Countdown,” we noted all the many pop culture references she paid homage to: Audrey Hepburn in “Funny Face”! Jennifer Beals in “Flashdance”! Bob Fosse! Dreamgirls! Mary Quant! Well, we failed to mention Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, a Belgian choreographer, from whom Beyonce seems to have borrowed a number of the moves and scenes seen in “Countdown.” Check out this video and judge for yourself. (I still think “Countdown” is dope and now I have a new favorite Belgian choreographer!) [Buzzfeed]

It’s not just that we love Beyonce’s new video for “Countdown” (and we loooooove it). It’s more like in the last hour or so we’ve viewed it about 10 times, and are obsessed with Miss B.’s incredible styling and Audrey Hepburn-meets-Bob-Fosse-meets-”Dreamgirls” vibe. Could she be any cuter with those Audrey-inspired bangs and perfectly manicured eyebrows. Oooh girl, it’s almost too good. We just had to break down all of the looks from the video, so we could salivate over them/try to reproduce them ourselves.

In her video for “Countdown,” Beyonce has basically produced the most GIF-able tribute ever to Audrey Hepburn, Tina Turner, Jennifer Beals, Mary Quant and everyone in between. No, like, seriously. There are so many costume changes, herky-jerky shoulder thrusts, and fluttering eyelashes, I am almost dizzy. And I like it!
