Less Than 53 Hours Until Betty White Hosts “SNL”!

I’m really looking forward to my usual stay-in-and-be-a-homebody-loser-routine on Saturday night because Betty White is hosting “Saturday Night Live,” with musical guest Jay-Z. NBC has released a few more promos and if they’re an example of what’s to come, my excuse for not going out is golden. Is there anything more awesome than Betty White throwing up a gang sign?! Golden Girls Need Love, Too

The new issue of Entertainment Weekly hits newsstands today, and while the cover is Robert Downey Jr., the inside is all Betty White. Check her spread out above. “I am so sick of the words ‘Betty White,’” she says. “I can imagine how the rest of the world feels!” Please, we still love you, lady. Betty White’s Badass “SNL” Promo

On May 8, Betty White is gonna kill it on “Saturday Night Live.” How do I know? Well, just check out this commercial for her guest spot. Radonkulous! Now, it’s clearly time to start a Facebook group to get Rue McClanahan, aka “Blanche Devereaux,” a hosting slot too. Stay Golden! Keep reading »

Betty White’s New Sitcom Looks Cheestastically Delicious

You know how we Friskyites love Betty White and are way looking forward to her hosting “Saturday Night Live” in May. But—surprise!—Betty also has a new show that will be premiering on TV Land in June. It’s called “Hot in Cleveland” and it co-stars some other ladies who are sitcom heavy hitters—mainly Valerie Bertinelli of “One Day at a Time,” Wendie Malick of “Just Shoot Me” and Jane Leeves of “Frasier.” We’re not sure how we feel about the canned laughter and timing in this clip, but we like the revelation that Betty’s wise-cracking caretaker is a pothead. Larry King Asks Betty White If She Was Easy

Betty White appeared on “Larry King Live” last night, to talk about her gig hosting “Saturday Night Live” on May 8. Apparently, Lorne Michaels always wanted Betty to host and asked her three times back in the day—she turned it down because she felt it was too “New York.” In the clip above, Larry went on to ask some uh, kind of pervy questions. “You were a loose woman, Betty, weren’t you?” he asked. His follow-up: “Would you say you were easy?” Uh, can someone teach him some terminology not out of the 1950s? Props to Betty for handling the gross questions with grace. “No, I’m an incurable romantic,” she said. [NY Mag] Keep reading »

Betty White May Be Hosting “SNL” After All — Just Not On Her Own

Ask — nay, demand — and Lorne Michaels will listen, sort of. For the last month or so, fans of Betty White have been clamoring for the “Golden Girl” to host “Saturday Night Live,” and according to Michael Ausiello at Entertainment Weekly, producer Lorne Michaels is game. However, he’s apparently not sure that White, who is 88 years old, will be able to carry the show on her own, so he’s supposedly assembling a roster of funny ladies to host together. Molly Shannon is on board, and Michaels is going after “SNL” alum like Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as well. The idea of all these women on “Saturday Night Live” totally excites me, but I totally think White could pull off the hosting gig on her own. I mean, would Michaels not allow Clint Eastwood — who is turning 80 this year — to host on his own? Betty White, while up there in years, is a professional, and a hilarious one at that — I say she should get the coveted hosting gig all for herself, unless she feels like sharing. Boob Tube News: Betty White To Host “SNL”? The End Of “Friday Night Lights”?

  • Who would be the best host of “Saturday Night Live” ever? Betty White! A very vocal group of fans on Facebook are pushing for the 88-year-old to host the show. When I checked, there were over 190,000 fans. I say it’s a go.
  • On Tuesday, “I Love New York 2″ contestant Jamal Rashead Trulove was convicted of first-degree murder. In 2007, just three weeks after filming the VH1 show, Trulove shot and killed Seu Kuka in San Francisco. Trulove was only on one episode—he was dismissed early for fighting. Kinda makes you wonder about the screening process for these shows, huh? Sadly, he’s not the first person suspected of murder after appearing on a VH1 dating show. [Yahoo]

Quotable: Betty White’s Ultimate Career Goal

“My answer to the question ‘What haven’t you done in your career’ is always Robert Redford. I’ve never met him and I would be embarrassed if I did.”

Betty White Is Dreaming Of A White Christmas

Could Betty White be any cooler? This year, she redeemed “The Proposal,” spoke out on Sarah Palin, and showed off her beer pong skillz. Last night, she appeared on the “Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson,” rockin’ a Santa suit. I can’t wait for her to get her Screen Actors Guild Lifetime Achievement Award next month. Keep reading »
