Betty White is blowing up … again. America’s favorite grandma has been in the biz for over 60 years and shows no signs of letting up. The premiere of her new show “Hot in Cleveland” on TV Land was the most watched show on cable last Wednesday night.

Betty White sex photos?! Sounds like hooey, but who knows what this kinky minx was up to in her younger days. According to the gossip blog ZackTaylor.ca, “industry insiders” have been contacted about purchasing four photographs of 88-year-old White and her late husband, Allen Ludden, a television host, allegedly engaged in “sexual activities.” That could mean anything from a chaste peck on the lips to … well … anything Tila Tequila would do. The photos were allegedly found in a box of memorabilia left behind at the Golden Girl’s old house.
Sit down. I have something to tell you. Rue McClanahan died this morning after a massive stroke. She was 76. As Blanche Devereaux on “The Golden Girls,” Rue cracked us up as the resident man-eater and showed us how sexy shoulder pads and sequins could be. The character wasn’t so far off from her real-life persona. “People always ask me if I’m like Blanche,” Rue once said. “Well, Blanche was an oversexed, self-involved, man-crazy, vain Southern belle from Atlanta—and I’m not from Atlanta.” (For the record: she’s from Oklahoma.) By the time Rue started filming “The Golden Girls,” at age 51 in 1985, she had already had five husbands. She wrote about this in her memoir My First Five Husbands…and the Ones Who Got Away. “It was a quiet kind of desperation,” she said. “I always thought I had to have a man.” She married actor Morrow Wilson in 1997 and stayed with him until this year. Rue survived breast cancer, and had some health problems last January—while recovering from heart bypass surgery, she had a minor stroke—but had been on the mend.
We hope Rue is sitting in the great living room in the sky with Sophia (Estelle Getty, who died in 2008) and Dorothy (Bea Arthur, who died last year). We can’t believe that Betty White is now the only surviving “Golden Girl.” Thank you for being a friend, Rue! You’ll be missed. [E! Online] Keep reading »
Ever since the Facebook campaign to have Betty White host “Saturday Night Live” worked, new groups keep popping up calling for her to host the Oscars as well as make appearances on “Dancing with the Stars” and “Glee.” Personally, I like the idea of our favorite “Golden Girl” doing battle with Sue Sylvester on “Glee.” But I’d rather not see her on “Dancing with the Stars”—going on that show is basically an admission that you are a washed-up celeb that no one cares about. Plus, I’d hate to see Betty hurt herself while busting some crazy moves.
That said, there are quite a few shows out there that could benefit from a little Betty. After the jump, our wish list. Keep reading »
Hey, it worked getting her to host “Saturday Night Live,” so maybe Facebook will be successful in getting Betty White a hosting gig at the Academy Awards. Everything’s been coming up roses for Ms. White lately, so why not? Go join the group and make it happen … that is, if you don’t think Facebook is a “total waste of time.” [via BuzzFeed] Keep reading »

Hey, did you catch Betty White hosting “Saturday Night Live” this weekend? There was a lot of hype surrounding this episode, so much so that it seemed almost important that Betty could live up to everyone’s expectations — but as far as I’m concerned, she did. Supported by some of the most beloved female cast members from “SNL”‘s recent past (Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Tina Fey, and Rachel Dratch, amongst others), the ratings for the episode — featuring musical guest Jay-Z — were the highest they’ve been in 14 months and the cast and crew gave Betty a standing ovation and presented her with flowers at the end of the show. It’s no wonder; Betty appeared in nearly every single sketch that aired during the live show, a feat not even younger hosts are asked to attempt — and that’s not including a handful of other skits that were performed during dress rehearsal but didn’t make the cut for the live show. Luckily, Hulu has those skits, which you can watch here. But before you do that, re-watch (or watch for the first time if you were crazy enough to miss it) Betty appearing alongside Molly Shannon and Ana Gasteyer in their NPR-spoofing sketch “Delicious Dish,” discussing her amazing, um, muffins.
