There’s a love of natural medicine … and then there are the people who are so into natural medicine that they end up on TLC’s “My Strange Addiction.” Margaret, 53, is one of the latter. She’s been treating her arthritis with fresh-from-the-honeycomb honey bees, which she forces to sting her by holding them against her skin with giant tweezers. And she does this 15 TIMES A DAY. (I don’t think there’s anything I do 15 times a day, not even think about Clive Owen naked.) Margaret’s favorite places to sting herself are on her forehead, tip of her nose, finger, ankle, elbows and hip. She also insists 10 stings “makes sex great” although she didn’t divulge 10 stings where. Even with all this great sex and honey on tap, Margaret’s husband JD is not really sure about this stinging stuff. “At this point now, with 15 stings a day, that’s when I’ve started to get really concerned about this,” JD told “My Strange Addiction.” Hopefully these two can work through their differences and Margaret doesn’t tell her man to buzz off. Oh, I am so punny! [Daily Mail UK]

Kate Middleton isn’t just an English rose glowing with natural beauty. She also fancies a bit of bee venom on her skin — AKA “natural” Botox — to sooth lines and wrinkles. Her stepmother-in-law, Camilla Parker-Bowles, turned her on to the $265 bee venom facial by aesthetician Deborah Mitchell, who works with Victoria Beckham and Kylie Minogue. Mitchell runs a London spa called Heaven and has been working with Camilla for seven years; no doubt due in part to her discretion regarding celeb clients, she began working with Kate shortly after her engagement. Anti-Aging Update: Bee Venom Beauty Products “Sting” Your Skin (Ouch)

The following might seem a bit crazy, but sounds a heck of a lot more appealing than sticking a needle into your face: Skin care addicts are now turning to beauty products containing bee venom as an alternative to Botox. These products don’t come without pain, however. The ingredient “stings” the skin, increasing blood flow to the face, which causes rejuvenation and improved elasticity. Bee venom is not a new thing to the health and beauty market. (It’s been around for centuries.) Apparently, it’s also marketed in capsule form as a pain reliever for arthritis (kind of counter-intuitive considering what we’ve just learned). You can also find it in soaps as an anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory ingredient. At the very least, bee venom is natural, which makes us more inclined to try it as we’re more and more cautious of the chemicals in our beauty products. [Daily Mail] Keep reading »
