We’ve all been there. A coworker asks you out to happy hour, which quickly turns into five hours, eight glasses of Pinot Grigio and absolute dread for the following morning. You may wake up feeling like hell (actually, scratch that, you will wake up feeling like hell), but that doesn’t mean you have to look like it, too. Here are five easy beauty tips for concealing your hangover and helping you head out into the world fresh-faced, one very careful step at a time. Good luck … and maybe go get a Vitamin Water while you’re at it…

Beauty Test Drive: Etre Belle Liplift Peel

Beauty Test Drive: Liplift Peel

At times, my lips are so dry they resemble truck tires. And then when I wear matte lip colors or stains, they adhere to the dead skin leaving a patchwork mess. The look and feel isn’t attractive, trust. I have been on the hunt for a lip scrub to revive my pout for some time and was thrilled to receive this Liplift Peel. Keep reading »

Beauty Test Drive: Topshop Magic Eyeliner

Beauty Test Drive: Magic Eyeliner
You Do Not Need A Degree To Apply This Liner, Promise

Every time someone takes a photo of me, I hear my mother’s voice saying, “Open your eyes!” You see, in my family, I have the smallest eyes. My mother and sisters all have round faces and Bambi like brown eyes.  Over the years I have learned to fake the wide eye look with dramatic eyeliner and thus am almost as obsessed with eyeliner as I am with eyebrow kits. I have tried everything from mechanical pencils to liquid formulas to and pot liners. I love the look of liquid eyeliner but hate the mess it makes. The stuff is runny and takes way too long to dry. When we received this Magic Liner, I jumped at the chance to Beauty Test Drive it. Keep reading »

January Jones has a tip for staving off exhaustion as new “mum” — placenta pills. The “Mad Men” star told People about her slightly unorthodox health regimen:

“I have a great doula who makes sure I’m eating well, with vitamins and teas and with placenta capsulation … Your placenta gets dehydrated and made into vitamins. It’s something I was very hesitant about, but we’re only the only mammals who don’t ingest out own placentas … It’s not witch-crafty or anything! I suggest it to all mums!”

Hey, if it works, why not? I guess it would swallow some placenta if it gave me the energy I needed to exist on very little sleep. The only thing I’m bothered by is January’s use of the word “mum.” Have her placenta pills made her British? Also, can she please tell us who Xander’s daddy is already? Black eyeliner is the dependent variable of my life. From when I wake up in the morning until I take off my makeup at night, I’ve got it on … and not exactly subtly, either. While I love a good tightly lined look that defines the eyes without the telltale sign of makeup, I’m all about laying it on thick. Whether I’m all smoked out or doubly cat-eyed, I just don’t feel like myself without my black eyeliner. The best thing about it is that it’s completely universal: anyone can look good with a slick of noir liner. Using the right formula for the look you wish to achieve is the most important task. Liquid is stark and won’t blend to smoke, while a pencil, no matter how sharp, will never be able to replicate a feline flick. Luckily, black eyeliner comes in many forms. You’ve just got to play with it a bit, maybe even watch some YouTube tutorials, and it won’t be long before you find the look that’s best for you. Still, there’s nothing worse than a liner that flakes, fades, or drags. I’ve given ‘em all a shot, so here’s the tried-and-true formulas to help you find your favorite.
