Who doesn’t love a little glam? I certainly do. So when I was given the opportunity to Beauty Test Drive a pair of Eyelure False Lashes, I wasn’t going to pass it up. There were hundreds of pairs to choose from (including these dramatic falsies which Sophie tried out!), but I was immediately drawn to Katy Perry’s collection since she’s one of the fiercest females in the game. I opted to try out her Lovely Lolita lashes, a subtle but voluminous pair to give my peepers some pop. Keep reading »

Have you ever noticed that when you overdo it in the sun, your skin becomes crazy sensitive? Some of your regular lotions feel like rubbing alcohol or make you feel like you’ve been standing over a deep fryer? My mom swears by egg whites. She will chase you down with raw egg and insist on slathering it all over your face, claiming it will prevent wrinkles. It feels soothing at first, but then it dries into a tight Botox-y mask. Gag. The first area to be ransacked is the beauty department. Ever wonder how some women have 20 free makeup pouches and a never-ending supply of brand name makeup remover? It’s because they know what they want and how to get it. Keep reading »

Of course I’d worn eyeliners — browns, golds, even blues — but something about that thick, black cat’s eye intimidated me. I thought you needed to have that “cool girl” look, like the author Caitlin Moran or Alex Vause on “Orange Is The New Black.” But a quick Google Image shows a wide variety of celebs in winged eyeliner, from Angelina Jolie and Kate Hudson, to Dita Von Teese and Rihanna. Cat’s eyes, it turns out, are surprisingly versatile.
So I bucked up and tried black gel eyeliner for the first time, coached by my coworkers Sophie and Katie (who couldn’t believe I was a black eyeliner virgin). The product was a sample of Benefit’s They’re Real! Push-Up Liner, which turned out to be perfectly easy for a newbie like me. Keep reading »
