If Britain’s S&M Scene Is Secret, Why Are So Many People Commenting?

BBC News published an article on Britain’s “secretive “S&M scene” yesterday, saying that Max Mosley’s antics are really opening people up. (He had a sadomasochistic session with five prostitutes, with whom he engaged in a concentration camp scenario.) The comments in response to the story are great though, because many BDSM practitioners defend their chosen sex life. One even sort of confirms yesterday’s post about being born with the desire for S&M: “I don’t really indulge in S&M (it just hurts, frankly, which is a good way to tell if it’s for you).” Other commenters are upset with the BBC for printing the story: “It’s clear to me that England is becoming more Satanic in nature every day, and the people who work for the BBC must take some responsibility for that.” Let’s blame the war in Iraq on the BBC, while we’re at it. Sensitive Skin, Hot Sex

Sex is still in the city and on HBO. Kim Cattrall, aka Samantha Jones, will executive produce/star in Sensitive Skin, a new show about a 50-something Manhattan housewife putting herself (and her crotch) out there. The series will be based on a BBC program of the same name which featured the coolest cougar from Absolutely Fabulous, Patsy (aka Joanna Lumley). Sopranos alums, writers Mitchell Burgess and Robin Green, have also signed on to guide the project and we’re sure with Ms. Kim in the lead role, this new show will be just as hit-able stateside. On a recent taping of the BBC’s Gardener’s Question Time, a caller to the Radio 4 Show asked about her Black Man’s Willie — as the rhodochiton volubilis is commonly known. After a segment full of immature giggles and wussy sex jokes that weren’t even as dirty as the soil plants grow in, many, sadly, were offended. Some found the content too racy, some found the jokes racist. Either way, the BBC made a half-hearted PC public apology to smooth things over. But the show must go on, so be sure to tune in for next week’s program on “Watering Your Wandering Jew”! [This Is London] Keep reading »
