[It] would’ve been helpful for [President Obama] to explain to Malia and Sasha that while her friends parents are no doubt lovely people, that’s not a reason to change thousands of years of thinking about marriage.  Or that – as great as her friends may be – we know that in general kids do better growing up in a mother/father home. Ideally, fathers help shape their kids’ worldview. … Sometimes dads should lead their family in the right ways of thinking. In this case, it would’ve been nice if the President would’ve been an actual leader and helped shape their thoughts instead of merely reflecting what many teenagers think after one too many episodes of “Glee.”

Unwed mother Bristol Palin penned a blog post about President Obama’s announcement yesterday that he supports gay marriage, no doubt while taking it doggy-style from another man to whom she is not legally married. You know, since the sanctity of marriage so important to her.

Also, if you read Bristol’s entire post, it’s a weirdly-argued screed about Christian submission in household and how liberals are upset when wives submit to husbands but Obama “submits” to his teenaged daughters. Um, WHAT? I just can’t anymore. [Patheos via Politico] Keep reading »

As is tradition, the President delivered a standup routine at this weekend’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, cracking jokes about Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, and Donald Trump. Probably my favorite joke? “Four years ago, I was locked in a brutal primary battle with Hillary Clinton,” President Obama said. “Four years later she won’t stop drunk-texting me from Cartegana.” Also, I have a soft spot for the shout out to the First Lady in his Young Jeezy joke. Yesterday, in Colorado, President Obama allegedly got “attacked” by some frozen yogurt. “A woman got very excited and spilled yogurt on me,” he said of the incident. God, I hate when that happens. I’m a frozen yogurt addict, so it happens to me a lot. Even when I’m not excited. Anyhow, the girl accused of “yogurting” the President is speaking out. University of Colorado student Kolbi Zerbest was falsely accused. According to an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” she did not spill yogurt on Obama’s pant leg. What really happened: The Secret Service made her put her parfait (not fro-yo) on the ground, and it was a photog who kicked it at Obama. That’s right, Kolbi, blame it on the paps. At least she takes full responsibility for eating the yogurt.[Business Insider]

As if we need any more reason to believe that our President is as hip as they come: Obama’s throwing a party in his hometown, and all the biggest fashion folks are invited. Back in February, the POTUS introduced Runway To Win, a fundraising effort featuring reasonably priced Barack-branded clothing and accessories with proceeds going towards his re-election campaign, and now his people have announced a star-studded event for June 12. The show, hosted by Anna Wintour and Iman, will honor the unveiling of the Runway To Win pop-up shop and will feature looks by Prabal Gurung, Marc Jacobs, Narciso Rodriguez, Alexander Wang, and more (you can check out, and purchase, all of the offerings at the Runway To Win website). I’m kind of clueless about politics, but I do know a thing or two about fashion, and it looks like Obama does, too. Naturally, that has nothing to do with his Presidency, but I know it definitely piques my interest in the upcoming election. [Huffington Post]

Last night, Nichelle Nichols (aka Uhura from “Star Trek”) posted this incredible photo on her Twitter (I follow her, obvs) featuring her and President Obama throwing up the Vulcan salute for “live long and prosper.” In addition to being totally nerdtastic, it’s also quite moving. Martin Luther King Jr. once told Nichols that her role on “Star Trek” was important justice work and convinced her to stay on the show. And here she stands, years later, with the first African-American President. How could you not adore this photo? It would be illogical. [Twitter]

  • More women voters in swing states support Barack Obama over Mitt Romney, according to a poll by USA Today/Gallup. Obama leads with women 51 percent to Romney’s 42 percent, with the number of women under age 50 who support Romney shrinking. [MSNBC]
  • Black women have more trouble clearing HPV from their bodies, which puts them at greater risk for cervical cancer, according to a new study. Compared with white women, black women’s bodies held onto strains of HPV for six months longer. [AP]
