Oh No! President Obama Is Stuck In Spider-Man’s Web!

Oh, don’t be alarmed. The Prez is just playing with a kid dressed as Spider-Man in the Oval Office. Adorable.

“We’ve endured too many of these tragedies in the past few years.  And each time I learn the news I react not as a President, but as anybody else would — as a parent.  And that was especially true today.  I know there’s not a parent in America who doesn’t feel the same overwhelming grief that I do.”

– President Obama’s statement on the Sandy Hook School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.

I have never been happier to see my daughter than the moment on Friday evening when I picked her up from her Girl Scouts pizza party. I made a beeline for her, hugged the stuffing out of her, kissed her and repeated. The repeat treatment was on behalf of a friend who does not have children, but loves her friends’ children as her own. Keep reading »

In case you missed it, here is President Obama’s beautiful speech, delivered at last night’s vigil for those killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting on Friday, which took the lives of six educators and 20 6- and 7-year-old children. “Are we prepared to say that such violence visited on our children year after year is somehow the price of our freedom?” the President asks, in direct reference to our country’s need for stricter gun control laws. Amen, sir. And may those who were lost rest in peace.

"Live long and prosper" from the Prez himself!

In case you needed more proof that our president is awesome, check out this clip of Zachary Quinto, who plays Spock in the most recent round of “Star Trek” movies, describing the first time he met President Obama on the campaign trail. “He gave me the … Vulcan salute,” Quinto explains, “And I was like, ‘I really want to hang out with you so much more now. You’re cool.’” Sigh. This story warms my nerdy, liberal heart. [Team Coco]

Well Played: Michelle Obama Goes For The Gold

With apologies to Jackie O, I think Michelle Obama is the most stylish first lady this country has ever had, and her fashion choices just keep getting better. Case in point: the stunning Michael Kors gown she donned for the Kennedy Center Honors last night. With its glittering gold fabric and jeweled neckline, it’s a little edgy and totally elegant. This right here, folks, is an iconic fashion moment. Check out another pic of Mrs. O’s amazing dress after the jump! Keep reading »

Karl Lagerfeld Is Either Getting Progressively Weirder Or Just Screwing With Us

It is fairly common knowledge that getting older directly corresponds with getting weirder. Karl Lagerfeld was pretty fucking weird to begin with, but now, at 79, I think it’s safe to say that the longtime Chanel designer is the weirdest. The Kaiser may not consider himself a “political person,” but he did take some interest in this year’s presidential election (didn’t everyone?), even awaking early the following day in anticipation of the results. “Inspired” by the subject of President Obama, Karl celebrated the Democratic win in the way he knows best: by illustrating the POTUS in chef whites (using Shu Uemura makeup, because duh) bearing a cake in the shape of the White House. The handwritten caption reads, in German: “The Biggest Chef in the World: 10 X 5 Stars.” I’m sure there must be something to this metaphor, but it is 100 percent lost on me. [WWD via The Gloss]

The President Is Not Impressed

This might be one of the cutest photos of the president ever — here with Olympic gymnast McKayla Maroney, both of them giving their very best “not impressed face.” We can only imagine all the things Obama might be not impressed with after this election season …

10 Things Obama Supporters Love About Tuesday’s Election

1. Our social media kicked your Super Pac’s ass. Sheldon Adelson, called by The New York Times, “the biggest single donor in political history” backed eight conservative Republican candidates through Super Pacs. None of them won. People have been wondering when America would have its social media driven “Arab Spring”? This was it.

2. Karl Rove’s $300 million extra super, ugly, horrible super bad day. Karl Rove has been a boil on the ass of the American political landscape since he first ushered George W. Bush into the White House in 2000. His smug Fox News-driven run of seemingly invincible political gutter dredging has finally come to an end. His American Crossroads Super Pac spent a lot of money and delivered a record-breaking bad return on investment. Read more…

  • This isn’t funny, per se. But The Frisky staff still laughed when we found out a 22-year-old woman who called President Obama the n-word on Facebook and then told a news station she would not mind if he got assassinated has been fired from her job … at Cold Stone Creamery. First of all, HOW DUMB IS THIS WOMAN. Who says that on camera? Second of all, I am very happy to hear that Cold Stone does not allow dumb racists to sing you songs while they scoop. That part gives me hope for humanity, at least. [New York Post]

Bam Gets Weepy With Gratitude

Oh, Lord, this made me cry. Yesterday, President Obama addressed his campaign staff at their Chicago headquarters in a very touching speech. It started with how impressed he is with them and the great things they are sure to accomplish in the future. But halfway through, the president’s voice wavers and tears start rolling down his cheeks. I love that our president is a man who isn’t afraid to show emotion in public. I dare you to watch this and not get a little teary! [Talking Points Memo]
